The motivation to write about Camila Mendes

Camila Mendes is a young and rising movie star. I decided to write about this actress after dreaming about her one night a few months ago in late 2019. Yes that actually did happen remarkably! Until a few months ago, I had no idea who Camila Mendes even is or what profession she was involved in. This article will not cover every single aspect of her life and career and is basically being written to bring awareness to who she is and why she is significant in Hollywood. I also think that I will not discuss her relationship with Charles Melton. The focus will be on the most significant things that she has been through on her rise to becoming a star actress. Most notably, we will attempt to discuss why she is a significant actress and not just another pretty movie star that fans will obsess over.

Camila Mendes' Significance Reason #1

Camila Mendes is best known for her role as Veronica Lodge in the teen TV drama series Riverdale. Her role as Veronica Lodge has turned out to be her biggest acting role so far and she is only 25 years old. It could be said that pretty much some actors get their big break early on in their career. However, there is so much more about Camila Mendes than just this role that she has played.

Reason #2: Mendes Lived in Brazil for One Year the Country of Her Parents Birth

She was born on June 29, 1994 in Charlottesville, Virginia to Brazilian parents so she is a natural born US citizen. Mendes moved around a lot in her younger years, moving a total of 16 times! She spent the majority of her childhood in Florida. When she was 10 years old, she lived in Brazil for one year.

Mendes Has Faced Adveristy On Her Way to Success

She is a graduate of New York University's famous Tisch School of the Arts and it didn't take long for the world to notice her talent. However, Mendes' time at NYU was not always positive. The up and coming actress revealed to Women's Health Magazine that she went through what she called a traumatizing experience during her freshman year at the school. She was actually sexually assaulted by someone. Mendes revealed that whenever she is going through a difficult time, she thinks of what she can do for herself physically, and for this she gives credit to her workout routine which helps her to stay strong mentally.

Reason #4: She Does Not Use Social Media to Brand Herself

We discussed earlier the significance of Mendes as it relates to Hollywood. But what makes her unique among young stars of her generation is the fact that she is not interested in using social media to brand herself and to capitalize on her fame. She is only interested in pursuing acting jobs.

Getting the Role of Veronica Lodge Was Not Easy for Mendes

The good things that you are able to earn come through patience and persistence. Speaking of acting jobs, Mendes also revealed that getting the role of Veronica Lodge was a nightmare. She even lost sleep and she was crying every night, feeling like she was on the verge of her life and career changing. She says that she is grateful that everything worked out in the end.

Reason 5: Mendes Has Suffered Through a Major Eating Disorder

She also told Marie Claire Malaysia that she struggled in the past with eating disorders. She never thought that she had the disorder because she was never that skinny. In spite of this, she was obsessed with being thin from a young age and her body kept changing, causing serious concern. Mendes has also been working with Project Heal, an organization that is committed to raising awareness and money for treating eating disorders. Mendes admits that it got to a point in her life that she needed to see someone and get help for her disorder. She saw a therapist who then recommended that she see a nutritionist. Any of the anxiety that she had about food previously went away. She credits both of these people for having helped her turn her life around. She was then focused on being, strong, fit, and healthy as she began to eat properly and work out as well. Camila Mendes is an example of an actress that has suffered through assault and an eating disorder and she is now on her way to perhaps being one of the leading women in Hollywood especially of her generation.
