Who is Timothee Chalamet of Call Me By Your Name?
Timothee Chalamet Roots
Sometimes all it takes is that one big movie to get an actor's name out there and recognized by millions. Some actors reach this accolade as a child, while others may become well known in their later years. This was not the case for New York born and raised Timothee Chalamet who recently starred in the movie, Call Me By Your Name. He not only got name recognition at an early age, but received an Oscar nomination as well.
If you saw Timothee Chalamet in the movie, Call Me By Your Name, you may think he is Italian, because of his looks. However, Timothee Chalamet is actually an American, even though he can speak French fluently because his father is French. Another language he can speak is Italian, which he learned for the movie Call Me By Your Name.
Notorieity Finds Timothee Chalamet
Before the small indie movie, Call Me By Your Name was released in mainstream movie theaters, Timothee Chalamet was making his rounds on youtube. For example, there is the video where he graduates from high school and performs a monologue as part of his graduation. Then there's the infamous video of him actually rapping while wearing a backwards red cap, tee shirt and jeans. Since that time he has moved up in the world. For instance, recently, he has been interviewed on such shows as The Late Show with Jimmy Fallon, The Ellen Show and many others.
Timothee Chalamet's Character
Even though Timothee Chalamet is be no means an introvert, he seems to be somewhat shy. In many interviews, he has his head held down and appears to be fidgeting trying to get his words out. I equate this to nerves since he is still getting used to being a celebrity.
That being said, when he talks, I sense a hint of maturity that goes beyond his 22 years. Along with his budding maturity, I see a young man who at sometimes is sure of himself while at other times, he may be struggling with the sudden attention -- which probably can be expected.
Additionally, Timothee Chalamet seems to be at the awkward stage of his life, but he seems also to be humble and down to earth. On one of his many interviews, he jokingly apologized ahead of time that his interview will draw only 6 views. To the contrary, the views numbered in the high 100 thousands, and are still climbing. He also joked on one of the talk shows of being followed by only one paparazzi. However, this has changed quickly for Timothee Chalamet, where he is followed by paparazzi and met with hoards of adoring fans.

Timothee Chalamat's Sense of Style
During the movie Call Me By Your Name which was set in 1983, Timothee Chalamet's wardrobe did not change that much. He is shown mostly wearing shorts and a top. However, in real life, based on what he wears to interviews, etc., he appears to have great sense of style and is well-groomed as well.
Timothee Chalamat - "A Rembrandt Painting"
Of course Timothee Chalamet is not a Rembrandt painting; however, a fan used this comparison to describe his striking good looks. I think what is appealing about Timothee Chalamet is he seems unaware of this and instead, likes to show his quirky side.
Timothee Chalamet Acting Abilities
In the movie, Call Me By Your Name, both Timothee Chalamet and Arme Hammer play roles of a couple who are gay. In real life, both are heterosexual while Arme Hammer even has a wife and two kids. Timothee Chalamet has joked about having only one girlfriend where the relationship lasted for about a month before she "got tired of being around him" -- in his words.
The fact that Timothee Chalamet is up for an Oscar and is only 22 years old says a lot about his acting ability. He gave an academy award winning performance in Call Me By Your Name by realistically conveying the sometimes conflicting emotions of 17 year old Elio, the character he played in the film relative to his feelings for Oliver, played by Arme Hammer.
Timothee Chalamet Family Values
Timothee Chalamet seems to be well grounded and headed for much success. Now that he is maturing, which is a process, I think he will hold on to his family values and will not be caught up in the sometimes dark side of all the glamour and fame. I came to this conclusion because when asked who he was taking to the Oscars, his answer was "My Mom."
Regardless of how the Oscars turn out, his mother and father can rest assured that they brought up a son who may be in the spotlight now, but has not let the spotlight blind him to the importance of just being an overall nice, sometimes quirky guy.
