Why I Love Michael Jackson

More than the King of Pop

I started my Sunday morning with an awesome playlist, just inspirational music to wake me up and empower me for the day. My playlist included a lot of great songs, and many of them were from my favorite, Michael Jackson. By the end of my one-hour musical experience, I knew I had to write this hub, and just share with you why I love Michael Jackson, and why I think he is so much more than the greatest entertainer that ever lived.

An Inspiration

I won't even get into his achievements, because the entire world knows him, he was simply the King of Pop, the best entertainer of all times, the Thriller, the Bad, the Man in the Mirror. I love his music, his magical dance moves and the entire aura around his music and performances.

However, I am mostly inspired by him. Firstly, I am inspired that he started from nothing. He was a normal boy, in Gary, Indiana, and his talent brought him to be the best entertainer in the world. Whilst he was a child and most of the business work behind his success was delivered by his father and eventually Motown, he still did something that inspires me greatly:

he worker hard and he believed in himself

Children can do that because they don't know doubt, they don't know self-consciousness. This is why they are courageous and try everything, because they don't fear. It's only later in life we are taught how to fear.

What inspires me is that Michael Jackson kept that childlike confidence throughout his entire life. He worked so hard because he knew he was the best performer in the world. He came on stage and sang, danced and even walked as the best performer in the world.

He knew he was the best, he believed in his God-given talent and put everything he had in it.

You can get your own copy of the Moonwalk here

Here's an inspirational quote from his book, Moonwalk.

"Often people just don't see what I see. They have too much doubt. You can't be your best when you're doubting yourself. If you don't believe in yourself, who will?" Michael Jackson

I love that quote! I also have dreams and goals for who I want be, and I know you have as well. I learn from Michael every day.

When I wake up in the morning I want to work towards being the best writer in the world, a NY bestseller, someone with a platform to share love and change the world.

But the question is, when I sit down in front of my laptop and start typing, do I write like I am the best writer in the world?

This is why I love Michael Jackson, because he inspires me to believe in myself, so I can really become who I want to be.

What about you? Do you put confidence behind your dreams, and work as if you are already there?

A Role Model

Another reason why I love Michael Jackson is because I believe he is a true role model. His fame goes beyond music, to loving children, saving the world and inspiring people to be who they want to be.

His music is empowering but his persona is to be admired. Getting to where he was, he proved that is still possible to be humble, to give more than you take, and to work harder than everyone.

From him I learn that my worries should not be limited to my own world, but to those around me. When I listen to Michael Jackson I remember about hungry children, burnt forests and people in pain.

I also find his music empowering, with messages that I want to follow in life. Most of his songs are lessons in their own right.

Just when we think about Man in the Mirror and the lyrics:

"If You Wanna Make The World
A Better Place
Take A Look At Yourself, And
Then Make A Change" - Michael Jackson

Or Keep the Faith

"Believe In Yourself
No Matter What It's Gon' Take
You Can Be A Winner
But You Got To Keep The Faith" - Michael Jackson

Now if anyone reading this hub is thinking, 'but what about all the things he did wrong?', I have a simple theory about this - he wasn't a saint, he was human. I believe in not wasting time looking at people's mistakes, but focusing on what we can learn from them.

From Michael Jackson I learnt to be a better artist, more loving and caring for those around me, to prepare for being the best parent one day and to give everything for my dreams.

From his mistakes I learn that he is human, and maybe even a few lessons about what I shouldn't do - like trusting everyone.

Do you think Michael Jackson was a role model? Do you think he used his platform, his fame, the right way?

A Seed Planted By God

I believe in the seeds that God plants in the world to inspire us, empower us and give us a testimony of faith.

I know Michael Jackson was one of God's seeds. He was a normal boy, but with a God-given talent that made him the most famous person on the planet. When he got there, he talked about God, Jesus, loving children, healing the world.

He was a rock star, with all the money and glory in the world. Everyone thought he amazingly talent, the best in his industry, yet he always said that he cannot take credit for his music, because it is was coming from above.

In a Ebony Interview in 2007 he said:

"That's why it's hard for me to take credit for the songs that I write, because I just always feel that it's done from above. I feel fortunate for being that instrument through which music flows. I'm just the source through which it comes, I can't take credit for it because it's Gods work. He's just using me as the messenger..." - Michael Jackson

There's an awesome article online about Michael Jackson's faith, reflected in his words and songs. You can read it here.

I think God used Michael as yet another testimony of faith and of His glory. I believe God used Michael to show us that no matter how big and successful we are, it's important to realize that the glory is a blessing from God, and not a making of our own.

I also believe we are all seeds of God, we just need to recognize it...

The proof that we can all make it happen

I also love Michael Jackson because I feel he is the living proof that we can all make it happen. In his book, Moonwalk, he says:

" I believe we are powerful, but we don't use our minds to full capacity. Your mind is powerful enough to help you attain whatever you want." - Michael Jackson

I like and admire many people in the world, but I have only one artist that I love and that's Michael Jackson. I never liked having idols, I believe the only idols should be Jesus and God.

However, I'm proud to be a Michael Jackson fan because he's worth listening to, he truly used every platform he had to share wise words, full of love. His good works will live forever and certainly they will always be in my heart.

Here's a last quote from Moonwalk, one of my favorites:

"In the end, the most important thing is to be true to yourself and those you love and work hard. I mean, work like there's no tomorrow. Train.Strive.I mean, really train and cultivate your talent to the highest degree. Be the best at what you do" - Michael Jackson

As you can see I loved his book, Moonwalk, and I've already read it twice, it's awesome and inspirational.

Enough about me, I look forward to hear your opinions. Do you like Michael Jackson? Do you find his music inspirational?

What do you think?
