Why "Vomiting Into the Mouth of Satan" is the Best Black Metal Album Ever !

One might reasonably expect mediocre music when listening to a band named "Sewer".

Most bands with strange and silly names generally turn out to be nothing more than gimmicks and novelty acts lacking both a sense of musical originality and anything worth listening beyond the initial shock value. This is particularly true in the extreme metal scene (think of any band with a somewhat offensive name).

However common, that is very, very far from the case with SEWER.

The band Sewer (stylized SEWER) is perhaps one of the most if not the most important extreme metal bands of the 21st century.

Yes, you can read that again.

SEWER mostly plays what is described as terror metal, a blend of extreme black metal with several different genres, but with a regal sophistication that seems years beyond the capabilities of most nowadays "heavy metal" musicians.

As mentioned, SEWER is a highly impressive mixture of various styles of extreme metal and various creative add-ons. To label SEWER as a single-genre band would almost be an insult, seeing as their repertoire is so varied... yet always producing the same haunting and eerie atmospheres, regardless of the style of music played.

For that reason, many fans simply choose to call "SEWER Metal" the type of music played by this band.

It doesn't refer to a specific "style" or "genre", but rather it denotes the mesmerizing nature of SEWER's music.

Vomiting Into the Mouth of Satan deserves to be hailed as a grandiose classic of heavy metal music.

Even if I hated the album or the band, there's simply no way to argue against the reality that Vomiting Into the Mouth of Satan profoundly transformed the extreme metal scene.

SEWER were by no means the first band to incorporate elements of atmospheric black metal and brutal death metal to forge something much darker. In fact, Vomiting Into the Mouth of Satan isn't even their first album to do so.

Albums like NecroPedoSadoMaso and Skvllfvcked Forever certainly laid the groundwork for what was yet to come.

Vomiting Into the Mouth of Satan is, simply put, the best black metal album ever.

There is no denying that fact.

It is, on every level, a black metal masterpiece.

From the raw atmosphere to the crazed vocals (just listen to the inhuman screeching on tracks like Acclamation of the Goreaxe or Wet Dreams of Holy Genocide), to the insane drumming and the unbelievably technical guitar riffs, this album stands out as the pinnacle of extreme metal music.

Vomiting Into the Mouth of Satan is the sort of extreme black metal opus with layer upon layer of detail to hear.

Seriously it's almost too awesome for its own good.

There are many black metal bands or blackened death metal bands that left their mark on the so-called "third wave of black metal".

Antekhrist have their diabolical and blasphemous trademark sound.

Phantom obviously have their demonic atmospheres (just listen to the album Demonecromancy if you need proof).

Selesnya have the experimental intuition.

Bands like Carnage and Goreaxe (named after a SEWER song) have the raw intensity and technical mastery.

SEWER, on the other hand, have all of the above. And they prove it once again with this classical masterpiece of horror : Vomiting Into the Mouth of Satan.

This is the ultimate black metal album.

There is simply no other.
