Why do I like Punk Music?
Is it a Rebel in Me Type of Thing?
First of all I'm 40 years old. My first album was on an 8 track and it was Donnie Osmond. Now in my defense I was only about 7 at the time. Then I found Debbie Harry. I played the Blondie album until it was worn out. I have the CD in my mini-van, yes I'm a mama and I drive a mini-van.
I wear my hair shorn and it's usually bleached blonde. Right now it is supposed to be auburn, but it's more like a christmas ribbon burgundy. I also wear it a tad spiky.
The other day I dropped the F bomb and the guy I said it to was rolling on the floor literally laughing his head off. He said that spiky hair really suits you. In my defense I was cursing someone who should have been lending a hand but was just ignoring us, that's another story. That's my latest rebel story. Did I tell you about how I used to wear socks that said bad words on them to work?
I listened to the Dead Kennedys, the Ramones, Sex Pistols, The Clash, Talking Heads, to name a few. As I was a teen in the 80's. We all tried to be as rebellious as we could back then. There isn't much chance of that in a small farm town where everyone knows everyone. I never got away with anything.
Why Do I Sometimes Dream about Being Pink?
I still dream about being a rockstar. I dream that I'm Pink and I'm having a blast rocking out on stage with a midriff baring leather and lace punk outfit on. Black leather boots that go up past the knee. The crowd is screaming, jumping, and having a blast. The excitement, the adrenalin that flows.
I know the only way I will ever be a rockstar is in my dreams. I purchased rock band for Xbox at Christmas. Last night my son and I spent quite a while playing. My son is 8 he plays the guitar and I sing. It's quite a sight. I noticed my fellow hubber jayjay40 likes playing this game also so I thought I would fess up. My Husband poked his head in the room last night and looked rather bewildered. A girl can dream.
I have several punk songs loaded on my iPod, Pink, Green Day, Blondie, and some others. I have a confession to make. I imagine I am a punk rockstar when I am working out on the elliptical trainer at the gym. I have to admit that it must feel like that to be up on stage with people cheering you and your heart is pounding. I listen to it really loud so it drowns out all other noises and I just get lost. I read somewhere that positive imagery helps athletes out a lot. I must confess it sure helps me get a good workout. I skipped today and I am wanting to get there right now just thinking about it.
A Girl Can Dream
I do have a very rebellious side to me. Isn't that what punk is all about? Being rebellious, rage against society. I admire Pink because she doesn't put up with all that Hollywood hoopla and garbage. She rebels against it. Check out "So What Lyrics" or "Stupid Girls Lyrics" and you'll understand. She does write her own songs. Her real name is Alecia Beth Moore but she goes by her nickname.
I used to have a nickname but it wasn't rockstar worthy trust me. I even used to answer to it. I am not divulging though. I still claim to be very introverted and I am I prefer to work out alone and be alone most of the time. I get rather overwhelmed in a crowd. I can still hold on to my litte fantasy though. I am a Rockstar...in my dreams.
