Why the world needs Siskel and Ebert again!
The words that need to be heard once again!
Two thumbs nowhere to be found
We are missing Siskel and Ebert or Ebert and Roeper from our television sets. Ebert said it best over a decade ago that we are living in a time where it's more important to follow what a celebrity wears or how much they make instead of judging the quality of their work, because why do we really care who broke up with who or who is vacationing where? They're people, people doing a job and we don't see great criticism on their films anymore like we did when Siskel and Ebert or the latter were on TV. People knew if they heard "Two Thumbs up," on a commercial or saw it on a poster that it was worth watching. Those words rang throughout country and across the globe and any studio who produce a film that garnished those words certainly celebrated I can tell you that much. Granted people have their own opinions and their show also reflected that because they disagreed many times against each other but for the most part everyone knew that these guys knew their stuff and they knew what it takes to make a great movie. They made viewers, including myself, look at movies in a much deeper way. Call it a curse and call me pretentious, but I've learned a lot from watching their show and we are in need of people that challenge us, to make us think. We don't get that that much these days and the so-called movie critics on TV like Shawn Edwards or Sam Rubin continue to make fools out of themselves and feed us garbage about the entertainment industry. Get off my TV! Siskel and Ebert come back down! Please. There are going to be a lot of great movies this year and I really wanna know what you guys think of them.
