Pop the World Oldest Champagne Bottles

Updated on April 22, 2011

What you think about Champagne bottles lying down at the bottom of Baltic Sea for a quite few hundred years. Are they priceless? If you think yes, the answer is big NO!

With a claim to be World Oldest Champagne Bottles, an auction has been set for June 3 in Mariehamn, Finland. And according to experts, these bottles expect to fetch some heavy price, somewhere close to $150,000.

It was last year July, when a divers found the stash of about 150 bottles during search of sunken two masted schooner of the shores of Finland's province Aland. The local government uncorked few of these bottles for media and also announced the auction later on. Expert said these bottles might be sealed in late 18th Century or early 19th Century.

Now it is on you to fly down to Finland and spend some money to pop these Champagne bottles or try some luck under Baltic Sea.

Interesting. I would think they would be worth a fortune since they are so old. Unfortunately I don't think I will be flying to Finland.
