Wrong Turn (2003)

Story/Plot: My favorites are the original and part four and the story line is the reason. The film was released in 2003 and made in Canada but, the movie was set in West Virginia. Two different sets of people get turned around in the mountains in West Virginia and encounter Inbred hillbilly cannibals. They will soon discover a junkyard full of cars and other property that once belonged to innocent people. Who made the wrong turn and were killed here.

Drama: The movie is full of drama as four people are trapped inside the old home in the woods with three sleeping mutants. Once they escape to the woods the Hillbilly's come running with bow and arrows. The show gets intense as they group is systematically tracked down by the beasts.

Fear Factor: Pretty scary especially the first time around. These super strong freaks who can barely even feel pain are killing people and eating them. They are deformed and gross looking. The way they kill humans is horrid and scary at times. Unique finishes for a horror film. Like all the Wrong Turn films the freaks always win and survive in the end..

Action: The first Wrong Turn installment features lots of action including fighting with the freaks and humans. Guns, bow and arrows, knives, torches and sticks are all used for fight scenes. A great horror film to say the least. Not for the faint of heart.

Wrong Turn 2: Dead End (2007)

Story/Plot: A Reality Show is being filmed in the mountains in West Virginia. A tough former military soldier hosts the show and you must survive off the woods or in this case hide in the woods. The story line is kind of lame but, the over the top kills make it all worth it for a scary movie fanatic.

Drama: The second installment has very little drama because, it is mostly a slasher film. The characters do not get close to each other and the audience never really gets to know them.

Fear Factor: The surprise or jump scares are all in the movie which is cool as it gets. They come up with weird and unusual slaughters which keeps you surprised and wondering what is coming next. Also, lots of extra brutality was added for this gore fest.

Action: The former Marine Colonel and Reality Show host fights one on one with weapons on two occasions with the inbred monsters and it's hard core action. Fists and weapons fly in the battles during this one. Once again, not for the faint of heart.

Overall Grade: B-

Wrong Turn 3: Left for Dead (2009)

Story/Plot: The prison is transporting inmates to other prisons when the redneck inbred monsters runs the bus off the road. A bus load of felons and a couple of guards now must survive the a West Virginia woods with three mutants on their trail.

Drama: Not much drama except in the first 25 minutes during the prison scenes and the prison bus escape. Otherwise a constant killing spree and a game of cat and mouse trying to get away.

Fear Factor: As always the murders are different than typical slasher film kills which keeps this movie from being dull. Lots of gruesome kills and surprise traps and scares of other types to make you jump here and there.

Action: Deadly kills and gross, bloody scenes are everywhere as usual and the fighting parts are spectacular. The head bad guy from the prison escape has a big fight with one of the Hillbilly's and puts up a great tussle until he is eliminated.

Overall Grade: B-

Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings (2011)

Story/Plot: My personal favorite of the films in the franchise, Wrong Turn 4 takes you back to a prequel of sorts. The movie shows the hillbilly cannibals locked away in a mental institution and shows how they came to be. Of course, they eventually escape and punish everybody in their path.

Drama: The movie has decent drama in the middle of the film and it makes you ponder who will and who will not survive the ordeal. Other than that there are no true love scenes or anything like that.

Fear Factor: The horror factor is wicked in this movie with no let up the entire time. The killing is off the chain and the scenes in the mental ward are not for those with a weak stomach. These guys were locked up for a long time and once they get out they are gonna be ready to raise cain.

Action: Lots of action as the crew who fled the mental hospital must run, hide and fight their way out of the hungry mouths of the nasty inbreed freaks.

Overall Grade: A

Wrong Turn 5 : Bloodlines (2012)

Story Plot: The Cannibal Hicks escape the mental ward and along with a serial killer they go on a murder spree in a West Virginia city. The story in this movie is very weak to say the most about it.

Drama: Practically no drama is in Bloodlines and it seems like a hurried film that was rushed. The story and drama was too repetitious and carried no weight in the movie.

Fear Factor: The kills in this movie were not unique or different like the other titles in the series. Some gruesome scenes were in the horror show but, not nearly enough. The biggest issue was the death scenes were of the "Been There, Done That" variety.

Action: Not much two way action but lots of murderous traps and mayhem from the backwoods boys.

Overall Grade: C

Wrong Turn 6: Last Resort (2014)

Story/Plot: While visiting a cabin with his friends in West Virginia a man discovers his roots, his true family. After learning he is one of the deformed cannibals family members he then turns on his friends. Blood is thicker than water.

Drama: There is not a lot of drama in this film. This film along with the fifth installment just before it has no true story line and really no major drama at all.,

Fear Factor: This is the first of the films to have basically a zero fear factor. The mountain men seemed to become too predictable and the film even has a hint of humor to it.

Action: Not much action other than running and hiding from the big boys who out for blood.
