A Perfect Orange Day

Updated on August 23, 2017

The Start of a Beautifully Perfect Orange Day

Out of the night, a perfect day begins with a small sliver of orange peeping above the horizon. Then slowly that small piece of brightness grows into a big orange ball, eliminating the darkness and bringing warmth to all it shines upon. And a new day dawns bringing with it endless possibilities of how to spend that precious time.

The mission here is to share with you some interesting attributes of something orange. Thinking about this task I learned quickly, while running through orange ideas in my mind, that orange things would comprise a list of limitless possibilities. There are so many wonderful things that are orange. However, I have chosen to focus on what I believe are the orange items that, when incorporated together, would produce a perfect orange day.

One of the most fun ways I have spent a day is watching favorite movies with my children and now currently also with my grandchildren. Of course this very important theater time is always accompanied by a healthy snack or two and a snack that may not be considered healthy at all by some. However, one of our favorite snacks, on the healthy side, is matured to sweetness from that all important sunrise I just mentioned. And it also happens to be one my granddaughter can't get enough of.

So come on over, pull up a chair, share the snacks, and enjoy the feature presentation(s) . . .

A few of our favorites that fit within the orange theme--

Here are a few "Orangy" movies I Have Watched Over and Over with My Children . . .

--The Jungle Book

--It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown

--A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving

--Finding Nemo

Movie clips from each are available to view. Decide which ones you like best--maybe if they are not already your favorites, they soon will be.

The Jungle Book Movie Clip - King Louie--I Wanna Be Like You

The Jungle Book

An all-time family favorite is The Jungle Book. It includes memorable orange characters. This classic movie features Shere Khan the vicious, orange tiger and orange King Louie, the orangutan, accompanied by his group of goof-around monkeys. The characters are so funny, caring, and entertaining, you can't help falling in love with them all . . . even Kaa the snake and the group of vultures that can't decide what they want to do.

Family entertainment at its best as the orange characters provide the colorful bonus for a Perfect Orange Day!

go along not thinking about it.

Our Healthy Snack

My granddaughter enjoys cuties and can eat them almost as fast as I can peel them. On one visit to her house in Florida, I purchased a bag of Cuties. One morning for breakfast, when only a few remained, my husband peeled the remaining Cuties along with a normal sized orange. My granddaughter sat by me and we both had a few sections of Cuties. Then I noticed she began looking at me to see if I would go for the Cutie sections on the plate or the orange sections. I began working on the larger sections and she gladly continued eating the Cuties. I then said to her, "I think I have had enough of the little oranges; you go ahead and finish them while I eat the bigger ones." She gave me the biggest, sweetest smile and said, "Ok, Gum-maw, I will finish them for you." (Gum-maw is her special name for me.)

That morning's breakfast turned into a very sweet granddaughter memory and created a lifetime love for those tiny little orange Cuties.

Orange Cuties are also an important food for snacking while watching our entertaining movies.

Munchies for Movie Time - The Not So Healthy Treats--Orange Soda . . .

and Buttery, Salty Popcorn

Popcorn, Orange Soda, & Orange Chocolate

Orange Crush is the perfect sweet orange beverage to accompany that delicious salty popcorn

Popcorn, orange soda, and Chocolate...If chocolate is a must for you, then the dark kind is healthiest. I really like dark chocolate, especially the dark chocolate with orange flavor added. It is so delicious!

I also like dark chocolate with added sea salt or chili pepper; it is so good! And Lindt, is my favorite for all three kinds.

Give Your Opinion on Snacking with Kids

Should all snacks given to children be healthy with no sugar or any of the bad stuff?

Both these classic Charlie Brown movies represent a beautiful Autumn scene abundant with brilliant orange colors so prevalent during this picturesque time of year.

When I was a child, this is one show I watched every Halloween. I continued to watch it regularly with my children through the years.

Finding Nemo - Enjoy this Brilliant Little Orange Clownfish's Adventures

Nemo is a cute little orange fish who has lost his way. In his many adventures, he tries desperately to achieve just one thing, to find his father. On the other end, his father is also searching tirelessly for Nemo.

Nemo encounters danger with sharks, fish eating pelicans, and finds himself in many other unnerving predicaments while trying to be reunited with his father.

One of the cutest parts is meeting Crush the turtle, who happens to be 150 years old. Crush rides the EAC with style while teaching his own offspring, Squirt how to survive. The EAC is the East Australian Current which provides a crazy fast mode of transportation traveling turtleback all the way!

The "Righteous" Turtle - One of My Very Favorite Scenes in Finding Nemo

Marlin: Now, what's the one thing we have to remember about the ocean?

Nemo: It's not safe.

Marlin: That's my boy.

The End of a Perfect Day

What a perfect day! Beginning with a gorgeous, orange sunrise that lights up the day. Then next on the agenda is movie time with the kids and/or grandkids. Sweet moments in life come with sharing fun happy movies with the little people you love. Those little giggles, sweet out-loud laughs, and smiles throughout as the movie rolls bring much joy to anyone, but especially to the heart of a parent or grandparent.

And as far as the treats, whether totally healthy or not, the snacking enjoyed together during movie time only enhances a very memorable day and creates warm fuzzy memories to recall in the future.

Then at the end of a Perfect Orange Day, another beautiful picture is painted by the sun as it says goodbye one more time in an amazing blaze of orange glory. Aka another one-of-a-kind orange sunset with words from the sun, "goodnight for now, meet me at dawn tomorrow for another beautiful day."

What would be your Perfect Orange Day?

Orange is my favorite color. I guess I'd eat apricots (favorite fruit), go to a San Francisco Giants game (favorite team, colors black and orange), and watch an awesome orange sunset over the Pacific Ocean.

My perfect Orange Day would be spent from orange sunrise to orange sunset at the beach with some good music and a bonfire in one of the fire rings! Your lens is outstanding! Loved it!

Gorgeous photographs and an enchanting lens with some of my favorite childhood movies. The only thing I would add for my own perfect orange day is an orange pushup (ice cream). I couldn't get enough of those as a kid.

I have a lot of perfect orange days when the sun is rising or setting in my neck of the woods. It's been a long time since I watched kid's movies. Congrats on the imminent ticket.
