Anime Conventions, Expositions and Festivals

If you're an anime or manga fan, then you probably heard about those things called anime conventions, events held for the pleasure of all anime lovers. Well this page is all about those conventions, info about them, videos and pictures too. And for those who never heard about anime conventions or never went to one well come discover them here and check the list of all the main anime conventions around the world to see if there is one near you that you could go to.

Anime Conventions

Anime

Japanese anime and manga are becoming more and more popular these last few years. Millions of people around the world are now fans of these great elements of Japan's culture and of course those people want to share their love for anime with the rest of the populations. It just so happen that there are events that allow anime and manga fans to have fun with people who share their hobbies and those places are anime conventions.

Just like for Star Wars / Star Trek, western comic books and other form of conventions, anime events are usually held in convention centers, campuses or hotels. Sometime they are organised by fans and sometime they are promotional tools for publishing companies or other group related to the anime business. The one thing that they all have in common though is that they're really fun to go to for any anime, manga, gaming or Japan lovers and for anyone who just want to have a good time too.

In most Anime Conventions you will find people displaying their fan fictions or dojinshi, people in cosplay, special guests, video screening, contests of all sorts, shows and a bunch of other interesting activities.

And what's best with these anime convention is that you don't have to travel all the way to Japan to go to one because these events are held all over the world and are growing in numbers and popularity every years. (But if you actually can travel than do it because anime convention in Japan are often on a much bigger scales than anywhere around the world)

Cosplay & Anime Conventions

Cosplay... A Must

If you have ever been to an anime convention, then you know that cosplay is a big part of any of those events. For those who don't know, cosplay stands for costume play, in short, disguising yourself. Just by looking at the pictures and videos of anime conventions you will notice that nearly everyone is in costumes. Most of them are dressed as anime or manga characters, but the good thing with cosplay is that there is no rules so you can dress up as anything you want. Of course putting a costume on is not an obligation when you go to an anime convention, but it's more fun that way isn't it.

For those who wants to try out to cosplay check out the pictures, videos and links about cosplay that I've put below.

What a great lens! My daughter and I have attended and written about the New York Anime festival and one that isn't on your list -- KotoriCon in southern New Jersey. We also attended the last Zenkaikon but wasn't impressed with it!
