Answer Me 1997 - Korean Drama 2012
Finally, I've found the perfect drama which owns my heart and soul. Answer Me 1997 is a fun, sweet, nostalgic and beautifully molded 16 mini-episodes drama. Set-up in two different eras (their reunion in 2012 and 1997), Answer Me 1997 gives us these questions: what did we do when we were 18 years old? What did we want in our lives? How did our adulthood begin?
Even though Answer Me 1997 is classified as a sitcom because of its episode length (30 minutes per episode), however, I prefer to classify it as a drama - because sitcom usually has more than 50 episodes (while Answer Me 1997 only has 16 episodes, wish they have more episodes though so I can indulge in the sweetness of this drama longer).
I wasn't into a k-pop back then (but I was a huge fan of American boybands). Most of the 90s culture that I experienced & used (ie. tamagochi, nintendo Game Boy, DDR, VCR, boyband posters that I pestered all over my room!) during the 90s were brought back in this drama and boy, it brought back many lovely memories.
The scriptwriters are genius, and I really enjoy their creativity in writing a simple but meaningful nostalgic drama about friendship, fangirling, family. Every time they flash back to year 1997, I began to reminisce all the things that I've done in that year - my high school year, my teenage year. I truly enjoy my current life, my sometimes I also wanted to go back to year 90s as a carefree young girl. But unfortunately, we can't turn back the time.
Sung Si Won summed it up perfectly, "If our bodies can't go back, at least our souls can. Right now, I'm going back to the '90s." - Sung Shi Won, so let's travel back to the 90s through Answer Me 1997!
Sadly, we are now bidding goodbye to Answer Me 1997. I really love the finale, so glad that the writer spent a bit of time to wrap each character's story. I'm not going to write any spoiler here, in case you haven't watched it; but can I honestly admit that I love cable drama? Because they rarely censor hot kissing scenes ^_^
Answer Me 1997, thank you! What a daebak amazing drama filled with nostalgic memories, love, and warm family story. Going to miss you and all the casts so much.
Have you watched Answer Me 1997? Do you like it?

Her father's diagnosed with a cancer, and it turned her life upside down as now she realizes how much his father really loves her even though they frequently fight over small things, especially over her fangirling obsession.
Entangled between two brothers who fight for her feeling, who will Shi Won choose in the end? And who's her baby's father?

She loves Yoon Jae but he didn't accept her feeling & broke her heart. So even though she initially opposed to it, but because of his tender heart, she's dating with a guy from Seoul, Hak Chan. Unfortunately, their relationship is not a smooth-sailing one, as they always break up over crabs.
Yoon Yoon Jae (Seo In Gook) was a very smart student who graduated top of the class from Seoul University Law Faculty and is now a judge.
Deep down, he's a sensitive person.
Shi Won is his first love even though he realizes that he can't compete with Tony Ahn, Shi Won's first love. And he also has to step back as his older brother also loves Shi Won.
Do Hak Chan (Eun Ji Won) - a transfer student from Seoul - he seems perfect, an eloquent speaker and charismatic; but he is incredibly shy in front of woman.
Things change after he saw Yoon Jae's treatment to Yoo Jung. So he cares & tends her broken-heart and becomes her boyfriend.
