The movie was a bit slow! But I loved the idea and the main actors. And I fell in love with Claire Forlani. But not my favorite movie.
I don't have one single favorite. I have many and each fills a certain niche or need.
Das Boot -- because of its music, bravery, reality. The characters really came alive to me. It's the only one on my list of favorites with a downer ending.
Star Wars -- because of the adventure and sense of freedom. When I left Mann's Chinese theater in Hollywood that evening in May, 1977, I had to stop myself and realize that this planet doesn't have interstellar starships.
Star Man -- because of innocence and love beyond all boundaries. Great acting by Jeff Bridges.
Casablanca -- because of Bogart and Bergman, love and sacrifice.
Forbidden Planet -- because of the adventure, mystery and alien culture.
Ghost -- because of love overcoming death and Whoopi Goldberg's stellar performance.
Being There -- because of innocence and the power of spirit and humility.
Dark City -- because of the message, the power of spirit and good triumphing over evil; and yes, because of love.
What Dreams May Come -- because of love conquering death and rebirth.
Patton -- because of the larger-than-life portrayal of one man who remembered thousands of years of battles.
K-Pax -- because of the magic and the effect it had on those around him.
The Italian Job -- because it's fun and intelligent.
The Illusionist -- because of the historical feel, the magic and love overcoming great obstacles.
There are others, but these give a sense of what speaks to me.
