I like Seinfeld's Newman. Jerry addresses him with such contempt as if Newman was pure evil, when he's just a self-centered layabout, no worse than the other characters on the show. I often felt there was some history between Jerry and Newman that went unexplained that was the cause of such contempt. But such history never was illuminated. I think my favorite Newman moment was when he went into Monk's and placed an order by simple saying, "A pair of Bear Claws, please." Of course Bear Claws should be ordered in pairs. I just never thought of it before.
