How much TV is bad for people of various ages? How much TV do you currently watch?

I'm afraid I agree with you--my mother literally watches TV 24X7X365, having at least 1 or 2 TVs on in different rooms of her house. She cannot sleep without the TV on, and she prefers detective and scary/bad news shows--hates watching comedies.

I think you're right, TCaro! The content is more important than the amount of time spent (as long as the time spent is reasonable). And, as you say, "it can help you rewind". :-) Thanks for commenting!

I love the Simpsons! One of the few "clean" comedies that actually make me laugh. I, too, work on a computer all day, so watching TV on my off-hours is almost like work, and bad for my eyes, too.

Good luck on your goal of watching less TV!

You're my kind of person--watching if there's a specific, limited reason to watch and not otherwise!

Haha! I can SO relate! Good for you for not watching TV. Honestly, I don't know how I'd find the time even if I wanted to! There's so much else to do that's productive and educational.

    Cheers!

You're a wise person, peachpurple! I'm not a parent, but I'm sure your son benefits greatly from your attention to what he's watching and ability to explain things he doesn't understand. Over the years, I'm sure he will appreciate this quality time.

You bring up good points--"how you define "bad"...watching solely reality" TV.... Maybe I should watch more reality TV to become more socially aware, since I can be a real dork in some social situations.

Shimeru, I totally agree! Especially the parts where you say, "if responsibilities are neglected" and "decisions on their daily routine according to television shows." That's very telling, and you've put your finger on key problems right there.

Good point, sm825: comedy can get you laughing which is good for you. Thanks for bring up that point, because I think it's a good one. I think I need to watch more comedy and de-stress/loosen up/get a sense of humor. :-)

What kind of show(s) do you consider "good" Paolo? (Just curious.)
