Why do you think "Silver Linings Playbook" was such a success?

I thought it was fairly straight-forward, predictable, mainstream American "happy-end" movie. The only twist is that the characters are not normal. He is bipolar, she is clinically depressed, in both cases I questioned whether either of the diagnosis was believable. But leaving the authenticity of their "craziness" aside, I still thought - the characters are inconsistent and feel so fake. What do you think?
