I never look at them either.
The ad isn't so offensive, but it has a rather provocative picture of a woman in it that is just not appropriate to the content of my Hubs. I suppose I'm just disappointed, because I assumed that ads placed in Hubs would have relevance to the Hub.
Well. It's not entirely hubpages fault. What it does is tags keywords in the blog. For instance, you put dog food, somewhere in the blog, chances are if there is a dog food company out there buying advertisement, you are going to have a dog food ad.
Your last comment cannot be entirely true. I am not searching for scantily clad women, Russian or Asian wives, or searching for mug shots of those arrested. So, HP needs to clean up its ads
Susana, that is not true. Yes that answer seems like a good one but it isn't true at all.
Here it is straight from the horses mouth if you don't believe me. https://support.google.com/ads/answer/1634057?hl=e... Seethe section on "sites across the web" you can also do a search for "interest based ads" http://www.youradchoices.com/faq.aspx
Ads that they used int he past there were offensive: Half nude bodies of dating sites, dating sites, russian girl photos and sites. and many other kinds.
Yes, the type of ads Lady Guinevere states have been showing up on HP. They are crude and distasteful and I have been surprised by them also. These ads need to be stopped.
It's just that the ad in question has a provocative looking woman in a rather trashy pose. At least as far as my Hub is concerned. I expect (foolishly?) that ads will be relevant to the Hub. It's not a major concern.
Many times the ad is irrelevant to the content of the page, it is mostly relevant to what we were previously googling. I'm not saying that you were googling for provocatively looking women. Just stating what might trigger such ads to apear on hub :)
You can always disable ads.
