"How Could An Angel Break My Heart" is one sad but beautiful song.
I also love the beat in "Another Sad Love Song" and the same could be said of her lesser known songs such as "What's Good" and "Midnite"
However if I had to pick just one song to listen to over and over again it would probably be "I Wanna Be Your Baby" from her Libra CD.
It's starts out very slow revealing someone laying all their cards out on the table about what they want; "I'm going to put it out there, lay it on line, and even it breaks my heart I'm giving it a try, not waiting for tomorrow, confessing it today, so baby here it goes, I'm out of time, it's do or die.... I wanna be your baby, won't you be my man..."
It's such a courageous song in that it goes against everything as to how women are taught behave with men. Traditionally they're not suppose be the "first" one to express a desire to be exclusive in a relationship or propose marriage. This is especially true if one is in the "friend zone". She says: "I'm ready to be right or wrong with you, I'm ready for my heart to win or lose, I'm going to give all I've got to you...I wanna be your baby" and the song builds up towards an anthem pitch. Going from fragile to brave to being unashamed and not holding anything back.
Not many women or men for that matter completely bare their souls with one another this way risking the hurt that could come with rejection or simply learning that the feelings aren't mutual. We're all taught to (hold something back). Don't make a fool out of yourself. Love is a gamble and when you hear someone taking such a risk it makes you want to pull for them.
