Do you think Doctor Oz should face more than tough questions from the senate?

Doctor oz was grilled by Senator Claire McCaskill this morning for his promotion of a plethora of pills and supplements as weight loss miracles. Should more celebrities be accountable for their words and actions? Is scolding enough punishment?

There is that pesky little concept of Freedom of Speech.

If Dr. Oz is trying to promote new pills it takes more than one TV show. It has to get voted on by the people, go through the senate, maybe be voted on again by the people and go through the senate again. Perhaps do this several times before the senate votes on it themselves to accept it, or turn it down.
Then, perhaps after time, if lucky, it can try and go through the process again.

I don't necessarily think Dr. Oz should be punished for the sales of those pills, but I do think this incident represents a growing problem in the United States. A similar issue came to light over Vitamin Water a while ago. They market it as a healthy drink, yet it was no better for you than a can of coke. There's free speech and then there's lying about what your product contains. This is why we have a consumer protection agency, to prevent such dangerous products from misleading and harming us. So this Dr. Oz incident should be a call to action for fake diet pills and other bogus products.

I honestly think it is none of the senates business and besides that they have had so many crisis and scandals, (people hurt people died) in their own back yard and they have no interest in questioning any of that, do they? I think they should worry about their own right now. But...that's just my opinion. smile
