   Disagree,  Celebrities abound in just about every country.  'Royals', on the other hand are to be found only in Kingdoms.   There aren't a lot of these.   I'd say that the 'Royals' of the USA are the incumbent president of the United States and his first lady.   They mightn't be royals forever, and their children and grandchildren inherit no throne, but the two top people in American are the President and his wife.

   Celebrities are not Royalties. Royalties have a very different duty and behave in a different way. Anyway, I believe people feel the need look up to someone and politicians are hardly the kind of person most people will look up to.
   In Monarchies people will look up to the king, queen, the princes and princesses. They will follow their lives and admire the way they live. In republics, like America, you can't have that so you turn to celebrities and look up to them. Unfortunately they don't have the sense of duty royalties have, and often are bad examples to follow instead of good ones.

      You said: "America, you can't have that ..." America (chose) not to have royal families! If we had wanted that there would have never been the Revolutionary War. Anyone who studies the history of royal families knows they're far from sainthood.

      Never I mentioned Sainthood (celebrities aren't saints also ), and never I mention if America chose or not, just that they, now, like any republic (unless the republic asks the question), can't have that because they are a republic...

      The only quote I attributed to you was the one saying "America {can't have} that." Implying it wasn't an option to have a King. The founders of America (chose not to) have a government based around a monarchy. People look up to both stars & royal

   Royalty to me is higher then the president his wife , Reference Bible Re 4:9 And whenever the living creatures offer glory and honor and thanksgiving to the one seated upon the throne, the one that lives forever and ever,  Reference Bible Re 4:10 the twenty-four elders fall down before the One seated upon the throne and worship the One that lives forever and ever, and they cast their crowns before the throne, saying: 
   
   Reference Bible Re 4:11 “You are worthy, Jehovah, even our God, to receive the glory and the honor and the power, because you created all things, and because of your will they existed and were created.” 
   
   This is the real royalty .
   Why ? Notice his has lived forever . No man or women no matter how much money they have can do that.

   I tend to agree. They receive the "royal treatment" wherever they go.
   Fame has a way of dehumanizing people or making them into earthly deities. Some people practically worship their music and film "idols" Others have been known to attempt to intertwine their lives with the celebrity by stalking them or breaking into their homes or telling the world they're "in a relationship".
   Several years ago the Kennedys were considered America's Royal Family but with the passing of John, Bobby, Jackie, John Jr. and Teddy the bloom fell off the rose. Even the very rich like Bill Gates or Warren Buffet don't get the same amount of public adulation as Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie.
   Last but not least a lot of folks identify with the stars because they too believe they can become one. They're just a YouTube video away from becoming famous! As difficult as it is to become a star it's seems more plausible for many people than becoming the next Steve Jobs founder of Apple or Mark Zuckerberg founder of Facebook.
   One great sex tape can launch a multi-million dollar career ala Kim Kardashian. She's so famous that if you Google the name Kim she comes up first. She can't sing, dance, or act, and is too thick and short to be runway model. And yet she has over 26 million Twitter followers with earnings of $28 Million in 2014 alone as of June. Forbes listed her career title as "Personality".  Only in America! LOL!

   Honey, I will have to disagree.  Celebrities put their pants on one leg at a time like we do.  They are just masters of their craft, we as non celebrities have a way of idolizing them.  But they are no different than me and you except that they have more money.  They are not royals, to be royal by definition means that one has the status of a king or queen.  Yes, they get preferential treatment but they are far from royal.  But that's just Annie P's point of view.

      Annie , The royals put their pants on one leg at a time too. The only requirement to be a King or Queen is to be born in their family! Although celebrities are not above us most have (earned) their place.  Being a royal is all luck!
