What is your favorite Tom Hanks movie and why?

I love all Tom Hanks movies. It is hard for me to pick a favorite, but I did settle on one which shows the wide range of emotions he can portray in his acting. Road to Perdition is my favorite movie with Tom Hanks.

All great movies. You are so right on "Forrest Gump" being a masterpiece character sketch. Sally Fields played her role so well.. All the characters did, really - and each character so unique. Thanks, Patty.

Ah! I feel the same, littlecat - when I see a Wilson ball I think of Tom Hanks. I never saw "A League of Their Own". You have some good insights on Hank's character. I am always astounded at his ability to make a character so real and interesting.

You are right, Cathy - Forest was not stupid, just simple, and SO lovable. I have watched that movie many times and I love the range of emotions with it. I cannot imagine anyone else in that role.

That is really good insight on the movie, Kenneth. For one actor to spend that much time alone and bring so much emotion and interest in is phenomenal. Thanks for participating.

I had to look that one up, ruchihealth. The title was not familiar to me.When I read the plot, then I remembered seeing parts of the movie. The plight of Viktor was unusual, but sure created a great story. Thanks for participating.

Any choice would be excellent, Diana. Castaway is so good for just as you mention - most of it is just Hanks. Well... and Wilson.

Philadelphia was a groundbreaking movie. Hanks did that so well and it was a brave thing to take on that role. I think it sky-rocketed him to fame. Thanks jlpark.

Both are realistic, yes. Tom Hanks can bring so many emotions out of us. I do feel he is the best actor to come along in a long time. He is so versatile.

Ah haha! Bring your own drinks - I will supply popcorn. Saving Private Ryan is, Castaway - both very good. Every movie Hanks plays in is his, no one else could do it the same. Thanks, Ed. Bring a pizza, okay?

Hi Paula. I love "Turner & Hooch". That dog and Tom Hanks worked so well together. You are right: Tom Hanks "makes" the movie.
