   What’s Your Greatest Movie Classic?
   
   When epic movies come to mind, I think of Cecil B. DeMille’s “The Ten Commandments” and William Wyler’s “Ben Hur.” When I think of great thrillers, Alfred Hitchcock’s “Rear Window” is a classic. My all-time comedy favorite is Stanley Kramer’s “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.
   
   Each era has its “all time classics” regardless of when you were born. So … if you don’t mind looking back too far—what’s yours?

   I love "Rear Window".Hitchcock was able to create so much suspense without actually showing anything--not even a single drop of blood.  I also love "Sound of Music". The gazebo scene where Maria and Captain Von Trapp admit their feelings is so sweet.

   As suggested there are so many. So many I began to think of classic categories and began asking myself what category is my greatest choice. Action films with westerns, war or conflicts, cop thrillers, and so forth. Romance, comedy, mysteries, mystical and fantasy, sci-fi, and more. I began which do I feel is classic between those seeking the answer for this question. And, then I began thinking with spontaneity.
   
   I pondered Gone with the Wind, however I arrived upon spontaneously with 'The Horse Soldiers' with John Wayne, William Holden, and Constance Towers. If that is on the TV I will always watch it while I will not always Gone with the Wind.
   
   Why? Well that would be a Hub for sure, of which I will ponder while saving this question in my writer prompt file on my PC. Off the cuff is the movie is epic in my mind while the elements are epic. The stars, the era, the horse, the true to life historical significance, the social settings with their conflicts, of course the director - John Ford, even United Artists, the era of release, and more for sure. Pondering offered to me definitely an epic film.

      So true ... two other great classics are the movies "Psycho" with that famous shower scene and "Jaws" with that young lady getting dunked over and over but you don't see anything.

   'Grand Hotel' must be one of my favourites.  Greta Garbo was stunning, and the story line(s), although somewhat over the top, was/were superbly handled.

   For Comedy I consider "Airplane" and "Airplane II: The Sequel" the all-time greats.
   
   As for "Rock 'em, Sock 'em" film noir, give me "The Killers" starring Burt Lancaster and Ava Gardner.
   
   For the Drama category, I'm going to go with Woody Allen's "Crimes and Misdemeanors."

   Best foreign film has to be "Bicycle Thieves".
   For comedy, "All of Me", (Steve Martin),
   Sci Fi  "Blade Runner".
   Drama  "The Grapes of Wrath".
   Musical  "Meet Me in St.Louis".
   Social Commentary  "Kes".
   
   Blockbuster "Gone With The Wind"
   
   I can't pick one film. They are all great. But if you are going to insist, "Meet Me In St.Louis".
