One of the first I saw was Lust For Life -1956 - which was based on the life of Vincent van Gogh the Dutch painter. Lead role was played by Kirk Douglas who brought passion and a manic aggression to the role. Anthony Quinn played Gauguin the French artist who lived with van Gogh in Arles for a short time. Great chemistry between these two.
I was impressed with the intensity of the movie, the way van Gogh's tortured life turned sour despite his genius with a paint brush. It made me think about artists, how they struggle sometimes to make space for their talents, how society treats them.
