It is absolutely possible and achievable ! I have taught senior piano classes, and all the students exceeded their expectations, had a lot of fun, increased their mental capacities and fulfilled for many a life long dream of always wanting to play the piano. I made the class a lot of fun for them by encouraging them to bring in sheet music to songs or pieces they really love and want to be able to play. The students began to develop a solid technique with scales, arpeggios and Hanon virtuoso exercises. I even made contests and games in the class of who could play the scale faster or who could play a scale in the most keys etc. Later, the students performed in a recital. One of the students from the class enjoyed it so much they had me come to their home to teach their three children, and even though I moved away, they still stay in touch and continue to enjoy playing the piano, although they said I spoiled them and now do not want any other teacher !
