Barenaked Ladies - All in Good Time
All in Good Time - Barenaked Ladies latest offering
Barenaked Ladies' latest cd is called "All in Good Time." The album was released in 2010 and is the Ladies' 8th studio album and first since the departure of co-lead singer and frontman Steven Page.
The new cd covers an eclectic range of moods and genres, from power pop songs such as Every Subway Car to the delightfully offbeat 4 Seconds to the slow country lament of The Love We're In.

You Run Away
This is the album's first single and directly deals with Steven Page's departure from the band. Lyrics such as, "I tried to be your brother/You cried and ran for cover," slowly build to reveal a hiden anger at the outcome as Robertson goes on to sing, "I'll give you something to cry about." Fittingly, the song's final line is, "I did my best, but it wasn't enough." The song starts slowly with a melancholy air and builds to a powerful final chorus.
Great singing by Robertson and the tune is one of those that slowly but steadily becomes irresistible.
Every Subway Car
The album's second single has a much more mainstream power pop feel. Every Subway Car is a song about a graffiti artist who professes his love for his girl by painting her picture all over town. The upbeat tempo is emminently singable and the video (which I can't show here due to copyright issues but you can find on youtube) is extremely well done. This is one of the best 2 or 3 songs on the album.
