Must See Off-Road Racing Movies

There's nothing quite like the feeling of getting your tires off the pavement, into the dirt, and leaving civilization behind in a cloud of dust. If you've never had the pleasure of experiencing an off-road adventure for yourself, these films are the next best thing. These aren't just movies for off-road enthusiasts either, featuring work by film-makers like Bruce Brown, director of The Endless Summer, these films are entertaining on many levels.

# 5 Bajaflo 3: Life in Motion (2007) - MFLO Films

This is a beautifully shot, action-packed documentary following four incredible off-road racing stars as they push the limits of their vehicles and themselves. This is the third film in the Bajaflo series.

# 4 Long Way Round (2004) - Documentary mini-series

Long Way Round is a documentary that follows actor Ewan McGregor and his best friend Charley Boorman on a 20,000-mile, 115 day motorcycle trip around the world from London to New York. Not all of it is off-road, but plenty of it is and the adventure is captivating.

#3 On Any Sunday (1971) - Bruce Brown Documentary

Directed by Bruce Brown, director of The Endless Summer, this documentary was nominated for an Academy Award in 1972.

If you're interested in the history of off-road racing, this is a must see.

#2 Dezert People 6 (2008) - JD Films

Sixth in the series, this action packed documentary is a favorite among off-road racing enthusiasts. The entire Dezert People series is awesome and definitely worth checking out.

#1 Dust to Glory (2005) - Baja 1000 Documentary

This film truly is the best off-road racing documentary ever made. Beautifully crafted, excellent story-telling, packed with insanely epic footage... guaranteed to keep you glued to your seat. Directed by Dana Brown, son of director Bruce Brown.

      I never heard of any of these either. The only off-road racing movie I can think of is Hidalgo.
