10 Best Romantic Comedies
My 10 Best Romance Movies with Comedy
This is my personal list of 10 Best Romantic Comedies. I love romance movies but the ones I tend to watch over and over also include some humor -- after all, there is always a bit of humor in our lives and romances. It's what makes the movie real for me.
You will notice in the list that I have a few of the same actors/actresses showing up time and again. Not a coincidence, I tend to lean toward my faves and my faves seem to make a lot of movies in the same genre. Can you guess who they are?
Check out my list and then let me know (in the comments section) if you agree or disagree, would add or subtract from my list of 10 Best (with a few honorable mentions).
Remember, movies make a wonderful gift!
DVDs, Blu-Rays and Netflix Gift Cards are wonderful gifts to add to an Easter or Valentine's Basket, Christmas stocking or for Mother's and Father's day! Think Birthdays and Anniversaries too! Movies are always a great gift idea!
#10 - 13 Going on 30 - It's an Adorably Funny Romantic Comedy
I really love this movie. It's the same premise as the old "Big" film that starred Tom Hanks.
At her 13th birthday party, a girl is humiliated. She hides in the closet and wishes she were 30 -- sure that everything would be great then. She wakes up 30 and gorgeous but with the maturity level of a 13 year old. Stars Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo.
The story follows her crazy antics in the grown up world and she discovers the love of her life... Really great film the whole family can watch. I have watched over and over again. The scene in the video below is one of my favorites.

#9 What Women Want - Happy Ending Romance Movies
Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt are a fantastic team in this funny romantic comedy. A very chauvenistic Ad Exec is suddenly able to hear what women are thinking. It works great, for a while -- even hilarious situations. But, soon he finds himself wanting to be the person one woman in particular wants in a man.
I love that Bette Midler joined the cast too!

#8 How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days - Best Romance Movies with Humor
The team of Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson have a lot of chemistry in this film. He's in advertising, she's a journalist writing a story about "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days". But first, she has to get a guy. I loved all the ups and downs, trickery and flat out funny scenes in this film. "Your so Vain" always brings this romantic comedy to mind!

"I love this man, and there is no way that I'm gonna give him up to some two-faced, big-haired food critic."

#7 My Best Friend's Wedding - Funny Romance Movies
Excellent film that definitely deserves a spot on the best romance movies list.
Two friends, played by Julia Roberts and Dermot Mulroney, made a promise to marry each other if they weren't married by a certain age. He calls her to announce he's marrying someone else (Cameron Diaz). Jules decides she loves him and wants him for herself. The entire film follows the crazy antics of Jules trying to break them up.
My favorite scene is in the video below --

I don't know about you, but every time I hear this song now, I think of this movie! I just loved it!
#6 Music and Lyrics - Laughed and Cried -- The Best Romance Movies make that happen
I absolutely loved this movie. Not sure how it did in the box office but we watch it a lot at my house! Hugh Grant is his hilarious self in portraying a has-been 80's singer struggling to make it big again. Drew Barrymore plays his unlikely lyricist as we follow their budding and bumbling romance. They make a great team! Love to see another film starting the two of them...

#5 Something to Talk About - Hilarious Combo of Actors for this Romance Movie
Two of my all-time favorite actors combine their talents in this film -- Julia Roberts and Dennis Quaid. Her family is into horses and seems to be into affairs. Once she catches him red-handed all heck breaks lose. Her sassy sister (Kyra Sedgwick), hard-headed daddy (Robert Duvall) and proper southern mother (Gena Rowlands) round out a cast that is just as emotional and hilarious as the stars.
I love this film!!

#4 - 50 First Dates - Adam Sandler? In one of the Best Romance Movies?
I know, I keep saying "I love this film" but I do! Adam Sandler is an unlikely star for a romance movie but does a wonderful job here paired with one of his favorite co-stars, Drew Barrymore. He all but kills himself trying to get "Lucy" to notice him and when she finally does -- he thinks he has it made. The twist is that Lucy's short term memory erases each night and she forgets all about meeting him.
He spends his time trying to figure out how to win her for good (as well as her protective friends, dad and brother). Add hilarious co-stars to the mix and this is one of the best romantic comedies of all-time!

#3 The Wedding Singer - Drew and Adam - Romance Movies Actors
Adam and Drew, co-star together for the first time in "The Wedding Singer". I was a teenager in the 80's so this film is right up my alley! I can laugh at some of the 80's spoofs but get choked up by one of the "falling in love" scenes. This is a film I think everyone should see at least once!

#2 You've Got Mail - Best Romantic Comedies
Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan star in this romantic comedy about two people that meet online and become friends. In real life -- they are enemies -- but they don't know it yet. Joe (Tom) finds out first and while he's trying to figure out what to do about it, he falls in love...
Tom and Meg are both fabulous comedians and it shows in all the exploits of the film. They are also fantastic dramatic actors and that shows too. The best of both worlds with this romantic comedy.

#1 When Harry Met Sally - Laughing and Crying Throughout this Romance Movie
I don't think there are too many people out there that haven't seen "When Harry Met Sally." If you haven't -- go, now, get it! I is truly an awesome romantic comedy. I can't even begin to be able to explain it but Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan are outstanding in this film. It spans 10+ years of bumping into and out of each others' lives. (The restaurant scene alone is worth it. I didn't include it due to the adult nature. Watch the film!)
It really is a must see if you love romantic comedies!

Honorable Mention Romance Movies - with a touch of humor
Yes, this is another one that definitely belongs on the list. Maybe I needed to change it to the top 15 or 20?
But where would it end?
Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore were superb in this movie. The part that makes it comedic is, of course, Whoppi Goldberg!
I have always loved this film as well. Harrison Ford is one of my all time faves but this is a break from his normal drama and he was wonderful at it!
I do love Michael J. Fox. He is so good in this roll, too. It's a bit different in detail but the boy gets girl format is still at the heart.

Best Romantic Comedies...
At Least in My Book
I know, I know, you would probably change up my list of 10 best romantic comedies. You'd add some I didn't, take some movies out that I've included or chuck the whole thing and start over. That's fine -- opinion is opinion -- we're all entitled to them!
At the least, I hope you have enjoyed my 10 best romantic comedies list -- maybe brought back some memories!
