Big Time Rush vs One Direction

Updated on October 8, 2012

Which Modern Boyband is Better?

The boy band has been a huge part of teen music culture since the beginning of time, and the two latest boy bands to join these ranks are Big Time Rush and One Direction. Both these bands have great catchy musc and millions of fans. But which band is better?

I'll be covering everything about the American heartthrobs and British cuties, from their music to TV show to accents!

Are you a Rusher or a Directioner? Post your opinion at the end of this lens!

Big TIme Rush - Otherwise known as BTR

Big Time Rush are the American heartthrobs, consisting of the four members, which from left to right in the above photo are Carlos Pena, James Maslow, Logan Henderson and Kendall Schmidt.

The band began as a Nickolodeon project for a tv show about a band! Big Time Rush is not only a band but a hit TV show on Nickolodeon which has just started it's third season!

The show revolves around the band's journey through fame and fortune in Hollywood! From everything to their first concert and the process of recording their album, you see it all and can share the experience with the band!

Their music is very pop and consists of cute love songs and fast dancing, party songs. Their first album named B.T.R was written for the purpose of the TV show, which means that their debut album was orientated more towards tweens. It has however some extremely catchy songs! Some of the hits from their first album include Boyfriend and Till I Forget About You, which are both extremely upbeat and fun songs!

Their second album Elevate was released at the end on November last year. Considering the band had much more input in this, and it wasn't solely written for the show, this album is more mature than their first. However it does not detract from their roots, staying true to their poppy Nickolodeon roots. However it was nice to see a change in the band's music, as they have more mature ballads and also some mor heartfelt songs.

Finally BTR released an EP to support their movie 'Big Time Movie' which premiered in march this year. The EP consists of Beatles songs that the band has covered, such as 'Help' and 'We Can Work This Out'

I personally love BTR because they are honestly just four fun loving guys who share a passion for music and life! They might be over 20 years old, but they're so young and fun loving that it's infectious! It's impossible not to love these for adorable and sweet guys.

Their TV show might be cheesy but even so, it's hilarious! You can't not help but laugh at their crazy antics! I think that they can and do make people smile which is exactly why they are so great.

Music Sounds Better With U - Big Time Rush

One Direction - Otherwise known as 1D

One Direction are the British cuties which from left to right are Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Harry Styles.

This band found their start on the British X Factor, having all auditioned individually, they were placed into a band and managed to get third place on the show.

After the show, they found huge success with their first album "Up All Night" which was released in November last year. has sold over 626,000 copies in the U.S and they are the first UK band to debut at number one in both Canada and the U.S

Up All Night features many hit songs such as 'What Makes You Beautiful", "One Thing" and "Gotta Be You"

They have had a world tour, touring many countries such as the United States, England, Canada, Australia and New Zealand with huge success.

One Direction's music consists of catchy pop songs, orientated towards tween and teen age groups. Their first single "What Makes You Beautiful" is known worldwide for it's catchy lyrics and beat.

And with their success has come millions of fans. On Twitter the band has over 3.7 million followers.

And although the X Factor was the beginning of their road to success, most of their fans actually came long after X Factor, around the release of the single and album.

What I love about the band is their quirkiness, each of the band members is really interesting and have their own little quirks and stories to tell. Not to mention their great accents!
