Big Chuck of TV8 Cleveland, Ohio

Big Chuck Schedowski was born in Cleveland, OH on June 28, 1934. He graduated from High School in 1952 and went to work in the foundry. Four years later he married his high school sweetheart in 1956. The following year he started National Radio School, where he learned radio and television repair and earned his "First class FCC license"

In 1959 he began a one year course of study for the police and firefighters exam. A year later Chuck passed the exam with flying colors, but also passed his "First class FCC license" He skipped the Cleveland Police appointment and decided to start working at KYW (now WKYC-Channel 3) as a summer replacement engineer in 1960.

Shortly after, Chuck became friends with Ernie Anderson "Ghoulardi" "The Voice of ABC". In the fall of 1960 Chuck became the full time engineer of WJW (TV8)(Fox8) and two years later Ernie Anderson followed Chuck over there to do the the afternoon movie show "Ernie's Place." Did You Know Big Chuck Played Football?

Hoolihan & Big Chuck TV 8 All Stars Played Football For Charity

Big Chuck and Friday Nights went together like cheese on a burger. Hoolihan & Big Chuck and Big Chuck & Lil John was the one program that the whole family could sit down together and enjoy. Big Chuck's work with local charities is worth mentioning.

In 1971, my father along with many members of the Brunswick Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department, played football with the Hoolihan & Big Chuck TV 8 All Stars to raise funds for rescue equipment. I remember attending that game, and it was wonderful. I loved it, and the memories of that game will be with me always because the All Stars were wonderful. They not only took the bumps of the game, but took the time out to promote the game and sign autographs, too.

[in reply to Sir Howard II] Chick's skits were comedic masterpieces. I have all the programs he and LJ put together and I never stop enjoying them. I also remember Houlihan and BC. When I was a young teacher at Monticello Jr. HS in Clevelandf Hts., I remember a program they hosted (rodan was the movie) When Rodan Kissed her(offspring with her( beak it made a loud CLUNK and never thought I'd stop ;aughing when big chuck held up a wooden beak and kissed a big egg with it. Also the skit BC did when he disco danced with a certain ethnic cleaning woman was a SCREAM. I would like very much to see THAT skit included in a remember when tape.I will try to write again. I absolutely LOVED watching Big Chuck and his sidekick. Of course, Ghoulardi was THE man before BC. Cool memories that I cherish growing up in Cleveland. Thank you!
