Bohemian Rhapsody

Updated on August 27, 2012

Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody

The Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody song was written by the bands very flamboyant lead singer Freddie Mercury in 1975. It appears on their album entitled "A Night At The Opera" and is unlike any other songs written by this band.

The first thing to note with regards to this song is that it doesn't actually have a chorus. Rather what this song is made up of a number of different parts. There is the ballad part to begin with that the ends with a guitar solo then this is followed by an operatic passage before a hard rock part completes it.

As well as being one of the most expensive singles ever to be made it also happens to be one of the most elaborate recordings every made.

If you like Freddie Mercury, you should buy his costume this halloween. You can do it here.

When Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody was released it stayed at the top of the UK singles chart for a total period of 9 weeks and sold over a million copies by the end of January 1976. However following the death of the bands lead singer in 1991 the song was back in the UK charts and remained at number one again for five weeks.

Bohemian Rhapsody Meaning

Even today over 35 years after Queen released the song Bohemian Rhapsody many people are still trying to discover what the song actually means. In fact when you look for information regarding Bohemian Rhapsody meaning there is a lot of conflicting information around.

Some people believe that the song was written by Freddie Mercury and relates to personal traumas that were going on in his life at this time. Then there are suggestions put forward by Roger Taylor that the song is pretty much self-explanatory.

Yet even as one listens to the words of this song over and over again it can offer people a completely different meaning every time. Even today both journalists and academics are still speculating over the real Bohemian Rhapsody meaning. Some of these believe that the song is about a murderer haunted by his demons whilst others simply believe the words being sung were written to fit with the music.

Muppets - Bohemian Rhapsody

Over the years a number of other bands and signers have chosen to do cover versions of some of “Queens” most iconic songs. Yet The Muppets – Bohemian Rhapsody video has become one of the best known of them all.

In The Muppets – Bohemian Rhapsody video, which was posted on You Tube in November 2009 it, involves multiple characters from the show that we all loved. However rather than remaining faithful to the original version as so many others have chosen to do the people who created this version decided to particular modify the lyrics. Just as with the original Queen video it shows various Muppet characters singing different parts of the lyrics against a black screen.

Within the first week of the video being released it had been viewed by over 7 million people and as a result of this success Walt Disney Records chose to release it as single. When released in December 2009 it did reach the UK Charts but only made it as far as No 32.

As a teenager, we'd put the Queen 8 track tape in the car radio and drive around for hours listening to Bohemian Rhapsody - what great memories!
