Bring The Spirit of Broadway To Your Television-Les Miserables

Updated on June 4, 2014

I love Broadway Musicals and Les Miserable on DVD brought them into my home. The first few times I saw this musical on stage I found it difficult to follow the storyline. However, that was a longtime ago and it was the only way to watch a theater hit. I now have this musical on DVD and found that the storyline has come to life. It is easy to follow and the interactions between characters are amazingly real. I truly is a great love story.

Set in 19th century France an ex-criminal seeks to change his life and unexpectedly a promise he make to a whore turns his life around. The drama and the close-up shots are amazingly real, with voices reaching their limits in emotional drama. This film brought new life to this musical for me making it a vivid depiction of how life twists and turns and creates new meaning to existence.

The original theater production brought tears to my eyes with touching scenes of personal interactions. I love the way the movie portrays the storyline to understandable entertainment. It changed the way I viewed the story by letting me follow each characters contribution to the film. On stage the costumes and theatrical scenery distracted me from it. I think it is wonderful entertainment and is a great way to introduce even the youngest member of the family to musical.

If you haven't seen this movie the time has come to experience the magic of the theater in your own home. It would make a wonderful gift for anyone. A truly fascinating film and a must see musical.

I first saw Les Miserables in a theatre in London back in 1991 and twice more after that. Since then I've seen in on video and DVD. It is one of my all-time favourite musicals.

I had no trouble following the story because I had read the original novel about 15 years before I saw the show.

I love so many musicals and am lucky to have lived in London where I could see some of them live on stage.

I saw this recently in our small town community centre, that doubles as a cinema. Great film. Deserves to be watched a few times to really appreciate it.
