Cutest bug type Pokémon – Butterfree, Beautifly, Combee, Leavanny and more

Updated on January 21, 2012

In the world of Pokémon, bug types are insect like creatures that are not traditionally considered to be very cute. However, this hub talks about the cutest bug type Pokémon in Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh and Unova. Although they are not known as the strongest Pokémon types out of all seventeen elemental types, bug type Pokémon are strong against fighting, ground and grass. If you are a fan of Pokémon, this hub is for sure a fun read. For those that are not familiar with Pokémon, it is a fantasy world filled with Pokémon trainers and breeders that work with a variety of Pokémon in their world (over 600 as of now).

Butterfree – This little bug and flying type looks like a butterfly from the real world. All girls and women love butterfly and this little guy is for sure very cute. Though it is not strong in a Pokémon battle, it can learn a lot of status altering moves that can help you catch other wild Pokémon. With its beautiful wings, it is considered one of the most desirable bug types.

Volbeat – This little bug type is also part flying type. It looks like a firefly in the real world. Volbeat's most noticeable feature is the glowing tail which it can use to draw geometric patterns in a group. This Pokémon is small and cute.

Illumise – This little bug / flying type is the female counterpart to Volbeat. For the most part, Volbeat and Illumise look very similar. Both resemble fireflies in the real world. However, Illumise it able to give off a very sweet aroma to attract and guide Volbeat. Its cutest feature is the bright blue eyes. It is not a very strong bug Pokémon but you have to train it very hard to level up because it requires a lot of experience points.

Ledian – Have you spotted the trend here? All the Pokémon mentioned so far are dual types, bug and flying. Here is another bug / flying dual type Pokémon that is very small and cute. It's pre evolved form looks more like a ladybug. The evolved version, Ledian looks like a cross between a little bird Pokémon and ladybug. It can learn a variety of moves such as fighting, normal and psychic type moves. This is a very versatile Pokémon that can really surprise your opponent.

Beautifly – This is another butterfly Pokémon that is based on a real life butterfly. It looks similar to a Butterfree but has more colors on its body. It wings are multicolor which adds to its cuteness. In addition to learning its usual bug type moves, Beautifly can learn a variety of grass type moves. Beautifly can increase it's own hit points while damaging its opponents with grass type moves.

Combee – This little bee Pokémon is very unique in appearance. Combee does not look like a bee, instead it looks like three honeycombs stuck together. The little Combee has a pair of small wings and learns very few moves. It might have lots of cute looks but is probably not a very strong battler.

Leavanny – This Pokémon is introduced in the Unova region as the new addition to the growing Pokémon family. Unlike all the other Pokémon I mentioned here before, Leavanny is a combination of bug and grass Pokémon. This Pokémon is very kind, likes to make clothes for other Pokemon.
