A Charlie Brown Christmas - Plot
As the rest of the Peanuts gang is ice skating gleefully around a pond, Charlie Brown confides in his buddy Linus that he's a bit depressed with Christmas being right around the corner. He decides to visit Lucy in her psychiatric booth for some 5 cent advice. After giving poor ol' Charlie Brown a bit of a verbal beating, Lucy suggests he get involved in their school play about the nativity. On his way to the auditorium, Charlie Brown sees Snoopy frantically decorating his doghouse in an attempt to win a Christmas decoration contest. Even his own dog has gotten caught up in the over-commercialization of Christmas. Good grief.
Arriving at the rehearsal, Charlie Brown is given the role of director for the school play. Try as he may, he cannot get control of the unruly kids. They all have their own ideas for the nativity play, all of which stray from the traditional story. In an effort to help set the proper mood, Charlie Brown sets out in search of the perfect Christmas tree with Linus not far behind.

A Charlie Brown Christmas - Plot
Charlie Brown, with his big heart, picks a poor, sickly looking tree in the hopes that they can revive it with a little love. Upon returning to the school, all the kids laugh at Charlie Brown. He begins to doubt himself and wonders aloud if anyone knows what Christmas is all about. Patiently, Linus walks to the center of the stage under spotlight and quotes the second chapter of the gospel according to Luke, verses 8 through 14 from the King James version of the Bible.
Inspired, Charlie Brown takes the little tree home to decorate it and prove the others wrong. Borrowing a large ornament from Snoopy's doghouse (which won the number 1 prize in the contest), he places it toward the top of the fragile tree which immediately wilts and nearly falls over. About to give up, Linus walks over to the tree and braces it's foundation with his security blanket. The rest of the Peanuts gang pitches in and adds Snoopy's remaining decorations to the Christmas tree, which now appears full and beautiful. Charlie Brown cannot believe his eyes. The kids all shout out, "Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown!" and begin to sing "Hark! the Herald Angels Sing" in unity.

A Charlie Brown Christmas Quotes
Charlie Brown xmas quotes
Linus Van Pelt: I never thought it was such a bad little tree. It's not bad at all, really. Maybe it just needs a little love.
Charlie Brown: Thanks for the Christmas card you sent me, Violet.
Violet: I didn't send you a Christmas card, Charlie Brown.
Charlie Brown: Don't you know sarcasm when you hear it?
Charlie Brown: [Shouts into mailbox] Hello in there!
Charlie Brown: Rats. Nobody sent me a Christmas card today. I almost wish there weren't a holiday season. I know nobody likes me. Why do we have to have a holiday season to emphasize it?
Patty: Try to catch snowflakes on your tongue. It's fun.
Linus Van Pelt: Mmm. Needs sugar.
Lucy Van Pelt: It's too early. I never eat December snowflakes. I always wait until January.
Linus Van Pelt: They sure look ripe to me.
Charlie Brown: Pig-Pen, you're the only person I know who can raise a cloud of dust in a snowstorm.
Linus Van Pelt: [after Linus and Charlie Brown discover the little tree] Gee, do they still make wooden Christmas trees?
Charlie Brown: This little green one here seems to need a home.
Linus Van Pelt: I don't know, Charlie Brown. Remember what Lucy said? This doesn't seem to fit the modern spirit.
Charlie Brown: I don't care. We'll decorate it and it'll be just right for our play. Besides, I think it needs me.
[picks up tree and several needles fall off]
Charlie Brown: [Charlie Brown and Linus stop at a wall on their trip to the pond for ice skating] I think there must be something wrong with me, Linus. Christmas is coming, but I'm not happy. I don't feel the way I'm supposed to feel.
[begins to walk with Linus again]
Charlie Brown: I just don't understand Christmas, I guess. I like getting presents and sending Christmas cards and decorating trees and all that, but I'm still not happy. I always end up feeling depressed.
Linus Van Pelt: Charlie Brown, you're the only person I know who can take a wonderful season like Christmas and turn it into a problem. Maybe Lucy's right. Of all the Charlie Browns in the world, you're the Charlie Browniest.
