I also review the new E.P. This Moment from the up and coming Christian soul funk band The Fundamental Elements.
"This Moment" EP by the Fundamental Elements
Title: This Moment
Artist/Band: Fundamental Element
When I first received the band Fundamental Elements Virtual Press Kit (VPK) I wasn't sure what to think. Their bio listed influences like John Legend, Jason Mraz, Justin Timberlake, Jamie Lidell, Michael Jackson, One Republic, dc Talk and more.
Their musical genres bounced from R&B, jazz, funk, rock, pop, soul and all styles in between. The bands past , present and upcoming touring & performance schedule is booked solid with over 125 gigs a year with concerts and festivals like Cornerstone, Ichthus, Red Gorilla, Agape Fest, and more. So they seem like a motivated band of young men with two full length CD's, 2 EP's and tracks on compilation discs over the past six years as a band.
So I loaded their latest E.P. in to my music player and went on an audio soul searching journey through the six tracks it contained.
First up is the feel good title track "This Moment" with the catchy sing along anthem chorus "This Moment, its My Time to Shine, This Moment, I Feel So Alive I keep Going Till the Day I Die. It's What I've Waited For, What I'm Created For, This Moment, It's On The Line, Feel's So Divine, This Moment What I've Waited For What I'm Created For"
The second track "Sometimes" is also the first single released off this EP and is a beautiful softer crossover style pop groove. Check your favorite rock or Pop stations for this track to start making its rotation very soon.
Powerful stuff, I'm predicting the third track "Superman" will be a smash radio crossover single with its up beat funk rhythm and soulful Pop R&B lyrics "Let Me Be Your Superman, I wanna Save Ya, Girl I'll Do The best I Can, Let's Fly Away Pretty baby"
This Moment is very well written, performed and produced The last three tracks on the CD really hit home with almost any listener songs like "Standing In The Shadows", "You're Not Alone" and the pose a question to the listener in the song "How Do You Maintain". Deep lyrics and soulful vocals from Russ Mohr help drive these songs to the heart.
Their Biography was correct you can't put them in just one or two music genres I detected hints of ska, funk, and they reminded me of bands like The Urge, the Newsboys, and Big Daddy Weave.
This ultra diverse and tight band hailing from the St. Louis, Missouri area made up of Russ Mohr: lead vocals, trumpet, Luke DeJaynes: drums, Mark DeJaynes: bass guitar, Dustin Burggraaf: keys, programming is sure to be a band to watch rise the charts in the upcoming months.

CD Review "In Feast or Fallow" by Sandra McCracken
Artist: Sandra McCracken
Title: In Feast Or Fallow
Genre: Folk Rock / Gospel
I recently had the honor of listening to and reviewing the pre release of Sandra McCracken's new CD "In Feast Or Fallow".
This is a beautiful offering of 15 tracks filled with fantastic songwriting, ranging from traditional and contemporary Gospel hymns to more modern folk rock flavored hymns.
I had never heard of Sandra McCracken before I was approached to do this review of her newest release.
Which is surprising considering she has released over 7 solo CD's spanning her inspiring career as a wife, mother, artist and singer/songwriter.
She has the most soulful voice and style, reminiscent of artists like Sheryl Crow, Joni Mitchell, Natalie Merchant or Patty Griffin. Her music is amazing very well written, arranged, performed, produced and recorded. Her Nashville, Tennessee roots shine through her music and she pours her heart in to crafting each song.
There is a very relaxing and peaceful tone to all her songs, it welcomes you in to praise and worship with the first track aptly named "Petition". Her music is almost universally perfect for any Christian worship service, coffee house or winery, folk music venue and it is just a great listen to help relax and unwind to after a stressful day.
If you enjoy such artists like PATTY GRIFFIN, NEIL FINN, THE WEEPIES, SHERYL CROW, SUFJAN STEVENS

CD Review: Church Music
David Crowder Band
CD Review: Church Music
A highly anticipated album since David Crowder Band's last CD offering "Remedy" in 2007 was phenomenal. With a mix of rock, techno, pop, dance, and soft love ballads David Crowder band once again sets my expectations pretty high for their next release.
David Crowder Band CD's
The David Crowder*Band (marketed as David Crowder*Band) is a six-piece Christian electronic rock and worship band from Waco, Texas. In a self-written and edited magazine released with their newest album, the band declared that their name had officially changed to "The David Crowder*Band".
The band began when David Crowder, from Texarkana, Texas, realized that almost half of the students at Baylor University were not attending church, which he found surprising since it is a Christian university. He and Chris Seay started University Baptist Church (Waco, Texas) in 1995 while he was still a student. Crowder led worship there and continued to do so throughout the year. The church's congregation grew, as did the band's lineup.
Crowder began writing songs to incorporate into the worship times at the church and eventually the church released an independent CD, Pour Over Me, followed by All I Can Say in 1999. These CDs brought the band to a wider audience and invitations to festivals and events followed. The band was signed to sixstepsrecords/Sparrow Records and has released six more albums to date (see discography). The band tours the United States continuously, but make it back to their home church in Waco, Texas relatively often.
