Holiday Hats for Pets: Best Hats for Dogs & Cats

Updated on December 18, 2010

Don't Forget a Holiday Hat for Your Pet

Too often in the hustle and bustle of Holiday spirit we forget to tend after our best friends and their outfit for Christmas. As someone who has 4 dogs in the house I know what its like to sometimes forget that they're there until one day you sit down and tell yourself "Oh darn it, I was supposed to......with Lassy today". You fill in the blank. I've compiled here a list of all the top outfits and hats for your pet, so that this year when you go out shopping or traveling, you're pet will feel just as dressed up as you. Whether it's a cat or a dog, there are custom made hats for both and they will look simply adorable once you've got them dressed up.

Dogs Hats: Man's Best Friend Comes First

Sorry all you Cat Lovers, but first in man's heart and first on this list is the selection of dogs holiday hats. Perfect for Christmas, New Years, even Thankgiving parties, the choices below are great for dogs big and small. With a cute little hat on, your dog will be the life of the party, and get more attention than is probably good for him.

I mean just take a look at the pictures, they're cuter then a box of chocolates with those little caps on, could you resist them?

Cats Hats: Best Holiday Headpieces for Your Cat

Poor dogs. What would they have to do if not bark at cats? While they might not get along sometimes, everyone has to respect the peace of Christmas Antler Horns. Never heard of that? Apparently when you put antler horns on your pets, they stop fighting each other and form an alliance against YOU. Could be helpful to know if you've got Cat/Dog issues at home.

Anyway....Here are some of the top Christmas/Holiday hats available to Cat owners. I have to say that there aren't very many available, which might mean you have to get a small dog one for your feline friend. (Shhhhh....don't let her know.)

Cats vs. Dogs: Which Pet Rules?

Which makes a better pet, Dogs or Cats?

Dogs have always been the best pets. Period.

I love the relaxed nature of cats but I love the welcome dogs always give you.

  • CritterLover LM 5 years ago

I love my puppies! They are the perfect way to brighten up a dull day. Cats will just ignore you and not bother with you if you need a little cheering up!

  • ChihuahuaClothesInfo 6 years ago

I love dogs. I love cats. But in the end for me, dogs take the cake because of the cute outfits and hats for dogs you can dress them up in! My cats don't seem to enjoy their feline fashion as much as my dogs enjoy their canine clothing ;) So as a fashionista, I have to go with DOGS!

  • CathyCast 6 years ago

I think cats are great pets to have when you want to rest. But I like dogs more because they make me exercise. They are both great pets!

  • MistyOakes 6 years ago

I don't mind cats, but I LOVE dogs. I've always thought of cats as kind of impersonal and dogs as your best friend.

  • norma-holt 6 years ago

Well my dog takes me for walks (compulsory) is my doorbell when someone arrives, snuggles up to me when I am down and guards me jealously when she thinks I am in danger. My cats just make me work for them but I love both dearly.

  • amy1980 6 years ago

Dogs. Cats make me sneeze yet they always rub all over me.

  • MargoPArrowsmith 6 years ago

I like cats, but dogs have always had my heart!

  • Archie_Right 6 years ago

I used to own both, but dogs are definitely my favorite. They are loyal and intelligent and live in symbiosis with human, while cats more try to take advantage of us:)

  • squidluck 6 years ago

I have a cat and a a dog.Frankie our dog is always happy and excited to see us every time.He jumps and dance and leak me on my face.Lola, our cat?give her some food and she'll be happy. She'll just hi and leave.

  • HorseHelper 6 years ago

I grew up with cats and dogs. I have to say that dogs are far cleaner than cats and they are way easier to travel with. You can take them camping, hiking, rafting, whatever you want to do.

  • livingfrontiers 6 years ago

Hard to choose, because they are both so wonderful! I would have to say dogs do more for trying to make you happy, so they win. Kitties love you, but only when the food dish is empty.

  • MuskyJim LM 6 years ago

dogs, mine actually helped me in a great time of need. I do like cats but after what my dog did it's two thumbs up.

  • anonymous 6 years ago

You know the old saying "Dogs rule, Cats Drool" Isn't that how it goes?

  • chrissuard lm 6 years ago

We have 4 dogs at my house, and the 1 border collie of ours outweighs the negative draw of the 3 Shih Tzu's and makes dogs soooo much better than cats. We have 2 cats so its not like I don't understand them, but since I got allergic I just can't stand to be around them.

  • MikeEssex 6 years ago

Another vote for dogs over here, And I have three cats and one dog so feel like a traitor

  • ChemKnitsBlog2 6 years ago

Dogs are fantastic. The best thing you can ever say about a cat is that it acts like a dog. ;)

Cats are definitely better because....

Both, but I prefer cats, because I do not live in a hous.

  • tandemonimom lm 6 years ago

    Cats aren't so needy!

  • catbehaviors 6 years ago

I love dogs, and have to say that they do have different (sometimes better) qualities than cats. But cats do have a special place in my heart, so I will go with them. Don't get me wrong though, I love both.

  • MakeACatTree 6 years ago

Cats RULE! Dogs just drool... LOL

  • bcarter 6 years ago

I love both, but I lean towards cats because they are easier to take care of and they don't tie you down as much when you need to leave town for a couple of days.

  • LissaKlar LM 6 years ago

    Cats Rule and Dogs Drool!!!

  • kt_glasses 6 years ago

I am much of a cat person.I prefer cats because they are more independent, cleaner and easier to take care of.

  • sousababy 6 years ago

I love them both so much, but if you work long hours outside the home, I feel cats are better as pets (for the sake of pet and owner). Dogs need to get outside and run around to have a fulfilling life. Tough choice, but I can better provide for a cat right now.

  • catbehaviors 6 years ago

This is a very hard choice, because I like them equally, but I'm voting for cats for Wessie.

  • Heidi Reina 6 years ago from USA

Cats are better. They have dignity and are much cuddlier

  • mivvy 6 years ago

Definitely cats. They have a mind of their own and are soft and sometimes cuddly

  • Lee Hansen 6 years ago from Vermont

I love both canines and felines, but cats are easier to have as pets if you travel and must leave your pet home. They can fend for themselves for a long weekend without needing to get outside to do their "business" - they do get a bit lonesome, though.

  • Jhangora LM 6 years ago

I like cats, coz they aren't willing to be chained like dogs.

Not Everyone's Happy to Get Dressed Up

Holiday Costumes: Go All Out This Christmas!

You have the hat, you have the antlers, why don't you just dive in and get your pet the entire outfit! Sure it will be like dressing up a doll, and you might be called girlie, (if you're a guy), or girlie, (if your a girl), but won't it be worth it to see your little baby sitting there in all their dress up finery? I think so. Check out the outfits available online, and feel free to add your own if you find a better one, so that other Christmas enthusiasts can enjoy it as well.

Knitted Hats for Dogs: Hand made for Your Pet.

Give Your Pet a warm feeling of love.

Nothing says I love you like a hand made hat, knitted for hours with the soul purpose of keeping You warm. Now admittedly your dog might not realize all that work that was put into the hat he's trying to rub off, but everyone else will know. Get a hand knit hat for your holiday outfit for your pet, and everyone will see the effort you put into making it cute.

I've made a list which everyone can add to, if you make hand knit hats or know someone who does, add it to the list below!

I am already paranoid about my cats plotting to kill me, I don't think I'd have to be paranoid if I put one of these hats on my cats because I'd be dead. Your lens has inspired me about some different ideas :)

Wow, I love the coil spring Christmas tree hat (for people) and the idea of matching hats for pet and owner. My cat would just shake a hat off, though. Oh but the puppy looked too cute sleeping with the Santa hat on, eh. Amazing lens, I'm lensrolling it to my Christmas one. Take Good Care, Rose
