Drumline

Drumline Available on Amazon

Once you've seen Drumline, halftime shows will become works of art. This formulaic yet surprisingly captivating movie honors the military precision of college football marching bands, those battalions of eager, sternly disciplined brass sections, drummers, and fly girls who turn halftime shows into well-oiled Vegas variety acts on steroids. Devon (played by Will Smith protege Nick Cannon) is a cocky Brooklyn kid with a snare-drumming scholarship to (fictional) Atlanta A&T University. He can't read music (he lied on his application) and his attitude sucks, but he's the best natural drummer the college has ever had, so he quickly rises through the marching band ranks. The school year brings Devon the obligatory girlfriend (Zoë Saldana, smart and charming); clashes with his old-school band director (Orlando Jones); and well-earned redemption at the championship marching band showdown. No surprises here, but great chemistry all around, and a fantastic, positive role-model showcase for a musical form that has evolved far beyond the main street parades of Smalltown, U.S.A. --Jeff Shannon, Amazon Review

Animal House

"Excuse me, sir,

is this the Delta House?"

Starring comedy legend John Belushi, National Lampoon's Animal House is the ultimate college movie filled with food fights, fraternities and toga parties! Follow the uproarious escapades of the Delta House fraternity as they take on Dean Wormer (John Vernon), the sanctimonious Omegas, and the entire female student body. Directed by John Landis (The Blues Brothers), the most popular college comedy of all-time also stars Tim Matheson, Donald Sutherland, Karen Allen, Kevin Bacon, Tom Hulce and Stephe Furst along with Otis Day and the Knights performing their show-stopping rendition of 'Shout'.

Nice choices. Matt Damon and Ben Affleck wrote Good Will Hunting in a house around the corner from where I live. It's been on the market for 3 years and is now in escrow. Realtors call it the Good Will Hunting House, even though it has an official name (Macastle) chosen by the original builder who emigrated from Germany. If I had an extra two million, I'd have bought it myself.
