Dinner For Schmucks Soundtrack

Updated on May 8, 2013

Music from Steve Carrell & Paul Rudd Movie

23 songs are featured on this Dinner For Schmucks Soundtrack with all songs by Theodore Shapiro except for "Dear Laughing Doubters" by Sondre Lerche. If you close your eyes, you can hear the Beatles influence in Lerche's song which is an uncanny riff on the Beatles "Fool On the Hill". Punchy song titles for Theodor Shapiro's score hint at the comedy to come including the songs "Booty Parade, The Naughty Parade, Mein Finger and I Am a Good".

According to movie-moron.com, if you're fan of oompah music and French farce, then this Paul Rudd & Steve Carrell comedy is for you featuring one half of the Anchorman 2 cast. But for the most part, this movie was panned by critics and audiences did not take a shine to this mean-spirited comedy. What is it with Paul Rudd and his inability to pick good scripts?

Now available on DVD is Rudd's mid-life crisis This is 40 and coming soon to DVD is Steve Carrell's The Incredible Burt Wonderstone movie co-starring Jim Carrey, Steve Buscemi and Olivia Wilde as one part of a has been Vegas magic act.

"Dear Laughing Doubters" Sondre Lerche - Dinner For Schmucks Soundtrack

Source: Dinner For Schmucks, The Scorecard Review

The Beatles Song - A Fool On The Hill is referred to twice in the movie. Picking up on that song's tone, Sondre Lerche's original song used in the open credits, with its relaxed melancholy pace and minor chords is the only song on the soundtrack score cd that's not a part of the music's instrumental score by Theodore Shapiro.

If you enjoyed Sondre Lerche's single song included on the official movie soundtrack, you may enjoy the soundtrack to another Steve Carrell movie Dan in Real Life where Lerche who was at first only commissioned to include a few songs for the Carrell movie, ended up scoring the entire movie. It's a lovely soundtrack -- a must-have if you've fallen in love with Lerche's voice in either movie. Nice interpretation of Pete Townsend's "Let My Love Open The Door".

It was a cool movie - a bit dumb, but cool just the same!
