Every few (thousand?) years, the Doctor undergoes a “regeneration”, where he acquires a new body and a new face. In the 50th Anniversary Special, we saw the end of Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor, and got a glimpse of the next...

Peter Capaldi is the Twelfth Doctor. He's a little older than the others we've had recently, and so we’ll maybe see a wiser Time Lord? Maybe more eccentric too, more like the early Doctors. Many fans are excited to see what this new Doctor will bring.

What can we expect in 2014?

The Internet is full of rumours about what we might see in the new season of Doctor Who.

We already know that the Doctor has regenerated, and will be played by Peter Capaldi, accompanied by Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald the Doctor’s assistant. Many are looking forward to see how the Twelfth Doctor will turn out, and what his character will be like.

The first trailer from the BBC was action-packed, featuring familiar monsters such as Daleks as Cybermen, as well as a mysterious tentacled alien and a T-Rex. Other trailers have been much more brief, giving away very little of what is to come.

It’s sure to say, however, that the new Doctor Who will feature exciting adventures, a sophisticated story arc that slowly unwinds, and villains that are sure to have you gripping the sofa cushions!

The series starts with Deep Breath on August 23rd. Watch the trailer below...

This season is darker compared to it's previous one. There are situations like life and death and we explore some of the aspects of the Doctor. Too bad the ending is kinda bittersweet as Danny is dead although the Christmas special made a great conclusion to the series.

Do you know, I haven't gotten into Doctor Who? I'm not sure I've ever watched an episode -- but my one niece loves it and even dressed her two girls in characters for Halloween.

I read about Capaldi today elsewhere. I used to watch the Dr. all of the time but my server took the channel back. I am a big fan of Dr. Who and your Hub was great, I loved the videos and I did not vote since I either laughed or smiled at the show most of the time. I voted it up, shared and pinned it.

Just started watching this show last week. We're three episodes in and I can tell my husband and son are really enjoying it. I'm told they change the doctors and assistants each season so looking forward to see how they do it. Great to see you here!

My daughter is one of Dr. Who's biggest fans. She was just telling me yesterday that whenever she hears someone quote a line from Dr. Who, she says "I SO get that!" :-) I'm sending her this page to read as I know she will be ready to watch Series 8 when it begins.

I have been a Dr Who fan for over 4 decades! I continue to love each and every new season. I'm a bit behind because I watch them on NetFlix. I'm beginning season 7 now.

Yes, Susan for me it has been years since I have seen Dr Who. I plan to check it out too. I told my husband yesterday about fluffanutta and his hub. Today I will read it to him and maybe tell a few friends about his hub because they might be interested too.

Clearly I'm in the minority when it comes to jumping on the Doctor Who bandwagon - I've never seen an episode! Also clearly, I'm missing a lot. Maybe this year I'll check it out. Again, my interest is piqued.

That was a great time in my life when the Doctor Who series was out. Watching Doctor Who helps bring those memories back. I lost interest when one actor came in and I am not sure why. It is a fun series. I am in a Google + circle that is all Doctor Who fans. Thanks for choosing this for some articles I will plug in.

Really looking forward to the return and I will be very interested to see how Capaldi comes across - I have great hopes for his incarnation of The Doctor.
