Fancy Meeting You Here : Bing Crosby and Rosemary Clooney

Updated on June 21, 2014

Best Duets 1958 - 1968

Every now and then I stop the world and listen to my favorite classics. This is a page with the best duets from a time when my life was simpler and my love of the arts was beginning to develop. I loved listening to the musicals and when the stars would sing I would be overwhelmed with joy and emotion. One of my favorite scenes was Gene Kelly 'Singing in the Rain' while he danced on the street joyfully and playfully. That is the kind of entertainment which continues to inspire me today.

This page will focus on my favorite duets and the singers who worked together on them during my ten year love affair with Hollywood Musicals.

Bing Crosby & Rosemary Clooney

I remember listening to the radio show and watching this duet on television (in black and white). The songs were the most amazing for me. Hearing these two amazing singers together was the beginning of a lifelong appreciation for duets in musical entertainment.

I'm grateful I had the opportunity to watch these vibrant actors in their most amazing journey to discover their own talents. I also daydreamed that one day I might fall in love with someone and be this amazing together (maybe not singing...but in creating a beautiful inspirational life together).

Do you ever wonder why something is your favorite?

Watch This...

These are 4 of my favorite musical videos from the movies during the 1950's and 1960's.

I've included a few more later on this page.

Do you ever wonder why something is your favorite? I discovered why one of my favorite Christmas tunes is my favorite. It is now clear I first heard the version performed by Bing and Rosemary (see below for the Christmas tune).

This is "Fancy Meeting You Here" the featured duet for this tribute to Rosemary Clooney and Bing Crosby.

Earliest song I can remember these two doing together. I believe it was on their radio show...I'll rewatch it to see if I missed something.

One of my all time favorite Christmas tunes and now I see why. My favorite duet during this era was perhaps the first time I heard this song.

"Take good care of yourself... you belong to me"

I would sing this song over and over again when I was young. What a delightful tune and lyrics for a positively amazing feeling!

Share some of these memories with your children and grandchildren while they are young!

What are your favorite Duets from my childhood.

As I was creating this page I began to realize how amazing my childhood memories of these amazing duets actually are. I was inspired. I was moved. I began to appreciate the arts.

Share some of these memories with your children and grandchildren while they are young.

These are some of my favorite duets are from the earlier years of my life. They are by singers like these. Which are your favorites?

Christmas Song Duets

Some amazing Christmas songs by my favorite duets. I think the most amazing of all is Natalie Cole and her Dad! What a special production created digitally.

I remember listening to an interview about this production and a few others she did singing with her Dad after he had passed away. Special tribute and remarkable production!

I loved how Natalie Cole created this duet with her Dad.

What are your favorite duets?
