Five Fingers - Korean Drama 2012
Music-Makjang Korean Drama
Five Fingers or previously known as The Piano Forest is SBS makjang melodrama, aired at the end of summer 2012. This 30 episode drama focuses on story about pianists' passion, conflict, life hardship and their journey to achieve their dreams & love.
Five Fingers flied under my k-drama watchlist radar, because I'm not a huge fan of makjang drama (ie. revenge, birth secrets, tragic-fate, etc). The only makjang drama that I loved is Can You Hear My Heart, and I'm stubbornly believed that it's not a real makjang. It's a beautiful rich family drama.
But everything changes as soon as I watched Five Fingers' first teaser (below). What a powerful 30 seconds teaser which made me really anticipating this drama, even more so than my previously anticipated weekend drama May Queen.
I'm intrigued with the darkness vibe portrayed in the teaser. I'm equally ecstatic when I saw Chae Si Ra playing piano, she's very well known as an amazing senior actress (her latest portrayal as Queen Insoo was fantastic).
Moreover, Joo Ji Hoon, what can I say about this young man. His last drama was Mawang in 2007 and he was entangled in drug issue which prompted him to enter the military service and blacklisted from broadcasting stations. It's a waste for people who have raw talent like him not being able to return to the small screen. So I'm glad that the production company chose him to be the leading man in this drama, he's a fantastic actor so hope that people will be able to forgive his past mistakes and open him with open arms.
This drama will be Ji Chang Wook first villain role which will be very interesting. I believe the scriptwriter will pen a dark interesting villain plot for him and I know he'll be able to do well.
Eun Jung is also a great actress, one step ahead from many idol-turned-actor/actress. She has plenty of acting experience too because she's been acting since she's young. She was also cast in Queen Insoo, playing as young Queen Insoo. Sadly, En Jung has been replaced by rookie actress Jin Se Yeon who plays as Mok Dan in Bridal Mask.
Overall, Five Fingers has a solid casts and the scriptwriter is also a makjang-expert; so if you like makjang-dark-melodrama and/or piano, don't miss Five Fingers. This weekend drama follows romantic comedy drama A Gentleman Dignity and aired in August 2012.
