The word horror is derived from Latin meaning bristling, shaking or trembling. Horror is one popular film genre of the 21st century that usually features scenes that will evoke startle response from the audience; the most popular themes of horror movies being macabre and supernatural events. Horror films genre is closely associated with nightmares, hidden fears, revulsions, terror of the unknown etc. Ghosts, aliens, vampires, werewolves, demons, vicious animals, zombies, monsters, cannibals, serial killers etc. are prominent components of horror movies.

As the origin of Halloween holiday is often traced to ancient Celtic festival of Samhain (during which bonfires and costumes are used to ward off roaming ghosts), horror movies are popular choice during Halloween on the night of 31st October.

The Conjuring is an American supernatural horror film based on a true story of Perron family, who lived in a dilapidated and secluded farmhouse at Harrisville, Rhode Island in the 70s. Ed and Lorraine Warren, world renowned real life paranormal investigators (author of The Demonologist) were called to assist the family as they were terrorized by a dark presence in their farmhouse.

This bloodless horrifying and scary movie is one of the best for this year Halloween. The Conjuring is a must watch for all lovers of scary movie.
