I have been watching American Idol off and on this year, and I think the only thing I like is that Ellen is on. But, she isn't as much fun as I hoped she would be, but she does have her moments. The rest has just been kind of boring.
There isn't anyone in this group to get that excited about. I think there might be four people that I like, the rest aren't even close. I did pick 3 people who were voted out today. Only one of them did not dererve the boot. I thought he was actually pretty good. Joe Munoz should have stayed.
Anyone else watching?
Watched one episode when it first came out. Never watched another. Not going to start now.
There is no one who stands out.
I've watched it ever year. This season is the worst.
I recorded it while I was working out at the gym.
Came back turned it on watched it for a bit and erased it.
I do watch American Idol. But I feel like things are not the same this year. Maybe it's because is Paula gone, or maybe it's because no one is jumping out just yet that could be the "one". I only started watching it a few years ago. I liked the year before last the best (Jason, Brooke, and the two David's). Last year was wonderful to watch because of Adam Lambert's singing.
I'm not sure what will happen after Simon leaves. I do like Ellen's comments, she is one of the reasons I watch. She gives it a fresh look. I think the others are too negative so far this year.
I hope it gets better!
I watch American Idol here in London but I'm not that impressed these days somehow!
i like to watch American Idol, but usually forget until it's been on for a few weeks lol
i caught the last 45 minutes last night and forgot to watch tonite.
You didn't miss anything. It's been kind of boring. The last two nights of performance have been a total snoozefest. If it wasn't for a little commic relief from Ellen, It would get an F.
I watched about two episodes from the first season and never watched again...Just don't care for it..Not my kind of music for the most part.
I have never watched one episode of American Idol and I doubt I ever will. America suffers way too much from the E Entertainment mentality. Otherwise Tiger and his escapades would not be so in the forefront as our nation is in the midst of meltdown
Anytime our economy is a trainwreck, hollywood always tries to trash the rich, in an attempt to bring them down to normal level. Dynasty was a very popular show during the Reagan years, when our economy was in the toilet. Look at the Clinton years, nothing but refreshing comedies like Will and Grace.
Then along comes Bush, and we get nothing but crime dramas and shows about terrorists. If it was not for American Idol, and the sunday cartoons, and other reality tv shows, TV advertisers would be wetting their pants. Put, anything on!
That's were there are so many info-mercials, because big business knows that regular television programming is worthless.
I enjoy watching American Idol cuz I enjoy seeing pure talent - if I dont see it, I dont watch.
I'm watching it right now. I agree, I love having Ellen D. on.
If you're question is serious, American idol is a televised singing competition and, has been on for 9 years. It has made several unknown talents known worldwide.
If you know who Kelly Clarkson is, Carrie Underwood, or Chris Daughtry, you can credit American idol for making them famous. American Idol is the most popular tV show in the United States. Last friday's show received 45 million votes. I also think it is broadcast live in 32 countries.
I have to watch American Idol since I review it for my website, but I agree that's it's been somewhat painful this year so far. I do think that Lilly Scott and Andrew Garcia are standouts. I expect Casey James will dominate this season. The problem for all of my favorites is versatility. Can they sing Disco, songs of the Louisiana Bayou, or the catalog of Wayne Newton? I kid, but you really have to be flexible and have a great voice to make it through all the bizarre theme nights.
I think it's too early to give up on this season. Sometimes someone emerges from the pack that doesn't catch your eye early on - Kelly Clarkson was a sleeper.
oh yes! She was a sleeper, but her voice and ability to express her talent in song was so evident from the beginning.
There is no one close to matching her talent this yr.
Last year the "gay" kid was an absolute phenomenon! voice, expression and delivery...wow!
No one near that this yr.
I totally agree that Kelly had the goods early on, but she didn't really own it, until farther down the line. I remember at some point Simon perked up and noticed how good she was.
Adam Lambert is one in a million, once in a lifetime, the uncommon combination of limitless natural talent with sophisticated, regimented training from a young age. Like a Tiger Woods sports wise. I have written at length about him and I think he's the reason this season will probably be a dud. Love him or hate him, but one must admit he energized the show. So far no one in this crowd can really do it. I think Casey James will go far on his mellow vibe, but he won't electrify or polarize us. But, not every season is a winner (though most create a star eventually), I mean choosing between Jordin Sparks and Blake? Snooze.
i watched last nights show, and Casey James absolutely sucked. He can certainly play the guitar, but, when it comes to doing both at the same time, he seems a little winded.
I have my eye on Lee Dewyze. I think he is the only one of the guys who deserves a spot in the top 12. The rest don't even come close.
I watched reruns of season one, and kelly Clarkson was the only one I liked.
Justin Galweenie sucked rocks. I can think of 5 people in that group that I liked better than him. Probably why his album flopped, and kelly went on to become the top money earner until she was dethroned by Clay Aiken.
Now I think the biggest money earners are Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Chris Daughtry, and, Adam Lambert who is shattering all previous records with his debut album.
I watch American Idol, off and on. I'm watching this year because four of the male contestants are from my area of Texas, including Casey James. Aaron Lambert is another of them, and he's cute and has a good voice.
Among the women, Lilly impresses me.
I never have understood the judging. I am glad that Ellen D. is one of the judges now. I got so tired of Paula Abdul that I didn't watch for a couple of years.
Why do I watch at all? TV generally puts me to sleep, and there just aren't any shows that I like very much. American Idol is still pretty good, and it's one of the few examples of live television that you'll find on the airwaves. I can't argue with the spontaneity -- some of the unscripted stuff that occurs is priceless.
I watch it regularly. They have a poor selection of candidates so far this year.
So far I've been routing for Casey...but that's just because he's a cutie.
With any luck this idol thing will die.
Down with reality garbage. Get the studios to spend the big bucks for decent television shows.
I don't think AI is garbage. I think that's unfair. Some amazing, chart-topping talent has been discovered, and the show has had some breathtaking live performances. Because it's amateur hour, much of it is really bad, but when it's good -Adam Lambert, Daughtry, Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson - it's really good. That makes it worth watching to me. But if you don't like singers and pop songs, you'll won't like idol.
I've been watching American Idle-- all the businesses closing and the jobless lines growing. Will anybody win?
Gee Maybe if John McCain had watched Idle Americans, and pulled his head out of his ass for five seconds he would vanish into thin air.
I am forced to watch because my sister is fanatic, don't get me wrong their a audience for American Idol.......I just rather tune at the tail end.
We dont get to see American Idol until Friday night in Ireland - both my girlfriend and I have been watching it from season 1 - however - last Friday night we were both very disappointed with the 'talent' very poor - I think it could be coming to the end of its self life - which is a real pitty - still we will see it again tonight but if there is no improvement this week we will be switching over next week
I watch Idol. I like Crystal and Andrew the most, and a couple more are alright. Hopefully the show will get a little more exciting in the upcoming weeks.
Andrew is gone! Not fair!
Most have done so very well the past few weeks, almost all of them clearly have a future in the music business. Andrew Garcia was so unique, so like-able and so much better than a couple of the others........in my opinion.
(just so you know) some people on the other side of the world haven't seen it yet - they won't see it until tomorrow night.
Sorry! Still not fair, he should have been there at the very least another week. Regardless, Andrew Garcia will surely have a great career ahead of him, he is quite unique, and even his part in the medley tonight showed his voice and style quite well.

If so, I would like to engage in a discussion about this unhealthy addiction of mine.I predicted the who the Top 5 would be Seven weeks ago and I'm basking in it, but I'm also concerned for myself. To understand this type of absurdity must not be healthy at all.

Despite being disappointed by last years outcome, I'm looking forward to AI 9. Although, once it's on, I tend to become obsessed and since I review it, I spend WAY to much time on it! It's wild to think that in a few months I may be totally invested in something that won't change my life a bit!
