Great Lines from Songs

I am not musical; I mean, I can barely play the radio, but I still enjoy great lines from songs. I wanted to share my favorites with you.

Leonard Cohen I'm...Buy This at Allposters.com

I just "discovered" Leonard Cohen a few years ago though I'd heard many of his songs. I just didn't know he was the genius behind them. Here are just a few of his best lyrics:

"My friends are gone, and my hair is grey, I ache in the places where I used to play" from Tower of Song, music and lyrics by Leonard Cohen.

I'm a huge fan of Mary-Chapin Carpenter. She writes most of her own songs, and she just speaks to me. I think she's wise and witty and wonderful.

I've been a fan of Mary-Chapin Carpenter for years. Her lyrics and soulful singing are beautiful.

I think the Barenaked Ladies are hilarious and write and sing some great songs! Pinch Me with the line about "I just made you say 'underwear'" is a hoot! Click this link to the Pinch Me lyrics.

I also love this line from If I Had Million Dollars:

If I had a 1,000,000 (If I had a 1,000,000)

i'd but you a green dress ( but not a real green dress that's cruel) .

You've gotta love those clever country songs that use a play on words to make their point. The Bellamy Brothers hit a home run with "If you had a beautiful body would you hold it against me?" I just love a good play on words!
