Great Scott Its a Back to the Future Movie Review

Updated on January 1, 2018

Full of zippy one liners, a great sci fi plot and of course the wild haired, mad scientist you can't beat Back to the Future trilogy as a movie series. I love these movies their is no if and or buts about that fact. What I love about these movies can be summed up into just a few little tiny things.

  1. Characters
  2. Continuity of Story
  3. Mad Scientist Fun.

Ok so maybe the characters are not such a little part of the story in fact they are first in line right after the DeLorean, which is the most important part of the story. First and foremost you have Doc Brown, the typical mad scientist right down to the wild white hair and complete disregard for consequences. Really the only thing that separates Doc Brown from being a evil mad scientist is the fact that he is a good guy. He doesn't want to use the time machine to conquer the world he just want to explore the past and future to "see beyond his years". Then you have Marty his hapless assistant, but a good guy to watch your back. You watch how Marty especially grows and changes through the story going from a guy who can't let someone call him chicken to one who can and how that tiny bit of growth affects his future.

The continuity of the story is one of the things that really sells the movies for me. Despite the years that pass in the real world you can sit down and watch all three movies in one sitting and you would swear they were all shot in one straight session. The dialogue, the way the characters interact and how events play out in the future, the past and intermixed between the two. A perfect example of this in one version of Marty saves himself from Biffs goons when he had to go back to the 1950's again in the second film.

Mad Scientists, flux capacitors, a DeLorean and time travel paradox's what else do you need to make a darn good story.

If you or your children haven't seen this series do not hesitate to buy it. You will not be disappointed.

Check out this original theatrical preview if I still haven't convinced you the movies are for you.

@Rhonda Lytle: I've got to say I agree with you. As good as the first one is and it is always hard to beat the original I think I like the third one is the best. It seems a little wrong but I can not help but tell the truth

These are so much fun. I love Doc Brown and even his dog. It was really cool to see him go western in the last installment.
