Gremlins 1 and 2
Have you seen these Movies?
Did you know this was going to be a kids movie originally? The Gremlins movies are great, and strangely enough, it all starts quite innocently with a Christmas present. Did you know this was going to be a kids movie originally?
Well who wouldn't be excited to open a Christmas gift and discover a Mogwai? Not only are they cute and cuddly creatures who are inexplicably drawn to movies just as we are...but it turns out that they are also extremely intelligent little creatures.
But be careful because what you see.....isn't always what you get.
The Gremlins also come with a set of seemingly innocent rules: no bright lights, don't get them wet, and never, ever, feed them after midnight. They may be small but they can do a lot of damage...

Released in 1984 the film was described as a horror comedy. The movie opted for more Dark Comedy with a Christmas setting.
A young man (Billy) receives a strange creature called a Mogwai (Gizmo) as a Christmas present from his father. Getting his pet wet spawns much more Mogwai. When they eat after midnight, however, they turn into small evil green monsters who go on a rampage which terrorizes the town.
Now Billy and his girlfriend (Katie) must try and stop these little green terrors from taking over their small town.
The rules on caring for the tiny Mogwai movie creatures were simple.
The movie did explain the rules for owning Mogwai very thoroughly and carefully.
1. No bright lights
2. Never get them wet.
3. Don't feed them after midnight.
Yup, they were warned. The contrast between first generation Mogwai and second was interesting enough. Evil though he may have been, Stripe was really adorable, at least until he ate a midnight snack.
The Gremlins movies are indeed some of the best action ever when it comes to combining the elements of comedy and horror genre.
How could we resist them. They didn't look like gremlins.
Yep, the Mogwai were indeed cute cuddly little creatures. We couldn't help but fall in love with them. Gizmo literally ripped the heart right out of our chest.
Which was your favorite Mogwai?
Yeah this little guy is enough to raise the hair on the back of your neck. The movie Gremlins really did introduce us to a new line of characters. From cute to gruesome with one simple feeding.
Gremlins 2: The New Batch
Released in 1990 the second film takes place in New York City and was intended to be more cartoonish than the first. The violence is much more slap-stick compared to the original also with Mohawk replacing Stripe as the lead villain.
After Mr. Wing passes away Gizmo is taken to Clamp Enterprises where he is a guinea pig for numerous scientific tests. After being reunited with Billy and Katie, Gizmo is left in the office and gets wet which spawns a new batch of crazy destructive Gremlins. This time they have New York City to call home. These Gremlins are also much more intelligent than in the first movie.
Comparing the first to the second
The first Gremlins movie delivered on both cute, and terrifying, and certainly had its share of laughs but at times also seemed very dark. Our introduction to the Mogwai, and what would happen if the rules were broken, truly kept us on the edge of our theater seats.
But then just when we thought it was safe to sleep without peeking under the bed first, along came Gremlins 2. By far it was sillier than the original movie and much lighter, yet somehow still astoundingly visually entertaining with all those mutant green lizards dashing about the screen.
The New Batch
They're back! But this time these fury little Mogwai are being multiplied by a Mad Scientist. They are also able to talk this time.
What follows is a fantastic sequel that makes fun of old movies, modern day television and most importantly itself. If you own the first movie you must complete the set and buy the second.
Which Gremlins movie was the best?
Gremlins on Blu Ray.
How could something so adorable turn into something so nasty just by eating after midnight? Though the producers never explained possible differences in Time Zones, or what happens if you travel with a Mogwai, Gremlins the movie is still in a class of its own.
