Gringoire from Notre Dame de Paris

Pierre Gringoire

Notre Dame de Paris is a musical written by Richard Cocciante and Luc Plamondon in French but has been performed in many different languages and has had lots of different casts since it premiered in 1998 in Paris.

Gringoire is both a major character and the story teller. As Poet he loves weird and he is knowledgeable the world. As the teller he is the liaison between the audience and the characters on stage.

Bruno Pelletier played Gringoire in the original French cast.

He was born August 7th 1962 in Charlesbourg Quebec. In 1983 he performed in the bands Amanite and Sneak Preview which sang in english. He also performed with a group called Pëll which sang in French. When he was 23 he moved to Montreal and sang in bars. In 1989, he participated in the competition Envol where he received an honorable mention. In 1991 he got a role in the musical Vu d'en haut. The following year he joined the musical spectacle Les Fous du Rock 'n' Rollo,. In 1992 he release his first self-titled album and played James Dean in the rock musical La Legende de Jimmy which was by Luc Plamondon and Micheal Berger. In 1994 he participate in the FrancoFolies de La Rochelle and he performed in Starmania which he performed 400. He also recorded his second album Defaire l'Amour in 1995. In 1997 his third album Miserere which sold over 200,000 copies. He won a Felix award for Male singer of the year and he appeared on the Quebec TV series Omertà II. In 1999 he released his fourth album , D'autres rives in both Europe and Canada. In 2001 he release his fifth album which was a Live album and in 2002 he released his sixth Un Monde à l'Envers. It was during this time that he worked the Symphonic Orchestra of Montreal for the series Les Week-end Pop de l'OSM. He also worked with the Orchestra to a Christmas concert that started in 2002 and record a Christmas album entitled Concert de Noel In 2006 he played the leading role in the musical Dracula-Entre l'amour et la mort . In 2007, he released jazz album called Bruno Pelletier et le GrosZorchestre. In 2009, he released his latest album called Microphoium. In 2011 he played the role of Napoleon in Micheal Rivard's musical, Les Filles de Caleb.

He was born June 26 1981. He began his career in 1992 in the program "Numeros 1 de Demain" in France and with his first single "emmene-moi". He audition for Notre Dame de Paris when he was 16 years and was cast as the alternate for Gringoire and Phoebus. In 2001 he played Romeo in the popular musical Romeo et Juliette, de la Haine à l'Amour. He has continued to played Roméo over the years. He has also released seven single two of which come from l Romeo et Juliette, de la Haine a l'Amour and he in 2007 he released a self-titled album

He was born October 14 1970 in Quebec. He joined a singing and dancing troupe when he was 16. He released a solo album in 1997. he has also been in a few musicals.

He interrupted medical school to start a singing career. In 1997, at 19 years old, Breau won a people's choice award in Quebec. A songwriter-composer-singer, he was in 1998 the discovery of the year at the "Gala des Eloizes" in Nouveau Brunswick, Canada as well as the first prize winner at the Festival of Granby. In 1999, he was chosen to perform Gringoire in the immensely successful French-Canadian production of Notre Dame de Paris. An auspicious first stage experience for the young performer.

He was born July 24 1971. He trained in Ballet at the Royal Ballet Lower School and her appear in a television adaptation of A Kind of Loving in 1982 and then went on to pursue musical theatre at the Bush Davies School of Theatre Arts and Doreen Bird College of Performing Arts. He left to join the cast of CATS where he played RumTum Tugger. He has also appeared on television and has worked with music act in addition to musicals.

He has also appeared in jack and the Beanstalk as Jack, Jet Set Go as Jim, A Midsummer Night’s Dream as Demetrius, Glory Hallelujah 2000 as Narrator, Bat Boy: The Musical, Rocky Horror as Riff Raff, Thank you for the Music as Donny Osmond and David Cassidy, Mephistopheles Smith as Mephistopheles Smith, Mamma Mia as Father Alexander and understudy to Eddy, Rent as Mark, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Will Rock you as Galileo. He has also done work in televsion and movie as well as recording albums and singles.

      The best character if Bruno plays him! Since I have heard Bruno by the first time (his amazing Les Temps des Cathedrales!) Gringoire became the most important, main role in whole musical for me : )

      Absolutely... When Gianluca Perdicaro played the part, he elevated it to new heights.... by far the best Italian performance!!!!!
