Halloween Movie Hocus Pocus

Updated on November 28, 2013

My Favourite Halloween Movie

My favourite Halloween film has to be the fantasy cult movie Hocus Pocus. This Halloween, my and my mum snuggled up to watch it with our Disney blankets and a nice big box of chocs! Here's my review that explains why I think that Hocus Pocus is the best choice of family film for Halloween.

Hocus Pocus Film Review

When school boy Max is trying to impress a girl, he mistakenly brings back the three witches known as the Sanderson sisters after 300 years by lightin the black flame candle. Can Max, his sister Dani and potential girlfriend Allison send the witches back? Can they free Thackeray Binx from the spell of eternal life as a cat?!?

This film has some great Halloween costumes and a fun soundtrack, making it perfect for Halloween. The three witches are extremely entertaining, an played by Bet Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy.

My favourite scene is definitely when the witches gate crash the party and cast a spell to make everyone dance all night. Their performance of 'I put a spell on you' is spectacular!

Hocus Pocus is the perfect Halloween Movie because it appeals to all ages. It is scary, but not too scary and highlights important themes of romance family and friendship.

Why this is the Best Halloween Movie Choice

  • Suitable for Ages
  • Fun and entertaining
  • Halloween setting with Trick or Treating opening scenes
  • Excellent Soundtrack featuring 'I put a spell on you'
  • The cast - Bette Midler's outstanding performance as Winifred Sanderson

'I put a spell on you' is my favourite scene from Hocus Pocus.

Hocus Pocus was one of my favorites. I've not taken the time to watch it for a few years though.
