Airplane! The funniest movie ever
I am serious... and don't call me Shirley.
When my husband found out that I had never seen "Airplane!" he insisted on sitting me down to watch it. I do not regret it.
Loosely based on the airplane disaster movies of the 1970s, this movie has it all;
Romance, Action, Comedy.
It also has tons of stars;
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Lloyd Bridges, Peter Graves, Julie Hagerty, Robert Hays and of course Leslie Nielsen.
I was already a Leslie Nielsen, Naked Gun, fan but this movie pushes him over the top. The one liners will have you holding your sides laughing.
"Airplane!" was nominated for a 1981 Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture - Musical/Comedy.
As the tagline says, "The Plane's going to Chicago. The Pilot's going to New York. The Passengers are going to Pieces!". What a perfect description of "Airplane!". The plane is going down! Who will help! Join this ragtag group of passengers on an adventure of laughs.
Quite possibly the funniest movie EVER made. Whenever I feel down and need a good laugh I watch "Airplane!".
Rumack: Can you fly this plane, and land it?
Ted Striker: Surely you can't be serious.
Rumack: I am serious... and don't call me Shirley.
Although this movie was made before I was born, the slapstick comedy is still relevant and funny today. The writing is funny and crisp and gives many a good "groan" moment. Still today I hear people quoting lines from "Airplane!" in everyday situations.
Elaine Dickinson: You got a letter from headquarters this morning.
Ted Striker: What is it?
Elaine Dickinson: It's a big building where generals meet, but that's not important.
Rich in both spoken jokes and visual jokes, "Airplane!" is sure to make you laugh out loud. It makes a great date movie too! It will always be a classic comedy film. If you can watch only one comedy in your life, make it Airplane! It will not disappoint.
So did you have the fish or the chicken?!
