Identity Thief: Movie Review

Updated on October 31, 2013

I don't buy a lot of movies. I am a tough critic so once I see a movie once, that is usually enough for me. But when it came to Identity Thief, I couldn't get enough. Now, I know this wasn't one of the big theater must-see's but it should have been. Here's why.

First off, I love Melissa McCarthy. She is the main star in this movie and she is absolutely hilarious! You might recognize her from some of her other now popular movies including Bridesmaids and The Heat, or the TV series Mike & Molly. She has such awesome timing that humor is just her forte. I could watch any movie of her's and probably walk away loving it.

Secondly, Jason Bateman is the absolute perfect character for this movie as well. They work so well together and really play off each other very well!

The plot in this movie is this; Melissa McCarthy's character, Diana, easily steals Sandy Patterson's (Jason Bateman) identity and goes on a wild shopping spree. In order for Sandy to get any justice, he has to go out and 'capture' Diana and bring her to his hometown police department. Obviously though, Diana is not going to go willingly. He coaxes her to go with him by telling her that she just needs to talk to his boss so he can get his job back. With a spunky, unpredictable personality like Diana's, things don't go exactly as Sandy planned. Instead, things take a turn for the worse as Sandy finds out he's not the only one trying to get ahold of Diana.

See more of Melissa McCarthy with these other hilarious movies.

Sandy: You got hit by a car. Are you even human?

Diana: The trick is to just relax your legs.

Diana: Read it on WikiHow.
