Dwayne Johnson Sings Louis Armstrong's "Wonderful World" on Journey 2 Soundtrack

Updated on March 1, 2013

Songs From The Mysterious Island Movie

More scary than being chased by gynormous lizards and birds is the prospect of Dwayne Johnson attempting to sing a rendition of Satchmo's classic "What a Wonderful World" on the Journey 2 Soundtrack: The Mysterious Island which doesn't even come close to the beautiful cover version by Hawaiian singer Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwo'ole.

However, "The Rock" proves he's a versatile performer, by not only singing but accompanying himself on the ukulele as well helped along with an arrangement by award winning movie composer and arranger William Ross who's worked with phenomenal music greats such as Barbra Streisand, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban and the list goes on.

The score for the Soundtrack to Journey 2 and movie is inspired by Jules Verne's The Mysterious Island composed by Andrew Lockington who also wrote the music for its predecessor Journey to the Center of the Earth.

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island directed by Brad Peyton (Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore) stars Dwayne Johnson, Josh Hutcherson, Michael Caine, Vanessa Hudgens, Kristin Davis and Luis Guzman. The movie will be released nationwide on February 10th, 2012 and will be especially fun to see on 3D IMAX theaters where it will open in 448 locations.

The ukulele is making a comeback as today's hippest instrument. Musicians like Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam, actor Ryan Gosling and Dwayne Johnson all know how to cut their chops on this pocket sized instrument.

Behind the Scenes Mysterious Island

The Rock, Dwayne Johnson explains the movie's premise in this featured about The Mysterious Island explaining "that which is small becomes very very large and that which is large becomes very very small" as he picks up the cutest little dog sized elephant. For that alone I'd go see the movie.
