The Life of Judge Judy Sheindlin

Education and Career

Judge Judy was born on October 21, 1942 and her birth name was Judith Susan Blum. She received a Bachelor of Arts majoring in government at American University in Washington, D.C. She then went on to Washington College of Law where she was the only female out of 126 students. In 1965 she completed her legal education at New York Law School, where she graduated with a Juris Doctor. The same year she passed the New York bar and was hired as a lawyer for a cosmetics company. She lasted only two years at this job before she decided to stay at home with her children. However she quickly ended up taking a position that had become available as a prosecutor in the family courts in New York. In 1982 she was appointed as a judge in criminal court. In 1996 Judge Judy retired after hearing over 20,000 cases. However she was offered a role on a new courtroom television program which she accepted and thus the show Judge Judy was born. The show is currently the top rated daytime program on television and her contract has been extended to 2015. She has written several books and she has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Family Life

Judge Judy's first husband was Ronald Levy and they had two children together. They were married from 1964-1976. A year later she married Jerry Sheindlin. They actually divorced in 1990 however re-married each other the following year. They have 5 children and 11 grandchildren.

      I really get a kick out of her show. She really tells it like it is and I think what makes her show stand above all of the other courtroom shows is her direct, "no punches pulled" delivery. I've seen some hilarious clips on YouTube where she really puts people in their places! Good show and a great lens you have here!

      been watching it forever. didn't do your poll. none of the answers really applied. Just like it because it is very entertaining and the cases are sometimes very interesting. I was watching this the other day and my kid came in the room and he said, what is wrong with that woman. why is she so hateful. LOL.

      Judge Judy on TV ROCKS big time!!! She's hilarious, and fair I think. She cracks me up so whenever I need to laugh, I watch her show...2 people on TV who make me laugh are Judge Judy and George Lopez, lol! I love to laugh so I know who's fun to watch.
